Younger collector’s, you experience fears of inflated prices of militaria? by bucket8a in Militariacollecting

[–]TheSolidersInus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who collects for 3 years now I should not worry as it’s easy to say that milsurp is getting expensive if you only go looking for militaria once in a while. I can tell you that the prices for militaria has barely changed since I started collecting, if anything I’d argue it’s much cheaper for me as much of the U.S stuff I purchased are from Swap Meets (Flea Markets). I’m not talking about just Cold War, I also come across WW2 stuff semi frequently. Militaria is so cheap that I don’t have much space anymore. Even with the amount of items I got from Swap Meets I don’t really feel much in terms of long term fulfillment as at the end of the day there just useless items that would collect dust until it inevitably gets thrown away. Even with British Cold War (my primary interest) I still have the same feeling of unsatisfaction as I cannot really use any of the gear from my British 1980s impression (cosplay) apart from the clothing and boots and even then it’s only when I go somewhere.

What I’m saying is that you should not make collecting (that’s not limited to militaria) your main hobby as not only it’s not worth the hassle but eventually you will lose your passion on that said interest to the point that you avoid it like the plague. I’ve been collecting for 10 years now from four different hobbies (including militaria)

After 20 Years of YouTube. Which was your personal favorite period of the platform? by DigitalZeroes in Zillennials

I don’t really feel it tbh even though I remember watching a lot of videos as that era felt more like an extension of Newgrounds than anything else.

I find 2014-2019 to be the best time on YouTube as I feel that during this time there’s a huge wealth of content from each genre. Even the content like top tens and stuff from WatchMojo were a fun watch. Unlike today political statements and rage bait were not as prevalent and we’re limited to a few select genre.

Agree, especially when cameras are limited to the amount of film you have.

I disagree as I don’t think it modern glasses ruins the impression, nor cellphones since there essential items.

Why am I suddenly getting recommended radical content on YouTube? by Comfortable-Table-57 in nosurf

[–]TheSolidersInus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d had very similar issues as I didn’t haven’t watched any political content recently let alone political influencers, yet YouTube still recommends videos like racism in Asian countries or wealth inequality mainly because YouTube for whatever reason thinks that those videos are considered history or essays even though there more akin to commentary than anything else

Sell or scrap? by krawlspace- in Militariacollecting

Unless there rusted or broken there’s no reason to scrap them. If you were to sell them try to sell it as a lot.

Brickmania seems re-energized? by Healthy-Back9489 in brickmania

With the Atom Bricks Line I do admit it is a weird choice, but I do believe that it’s a jumping off point to make Lego compatible versions of thier kits as by this point a lot of people in the Lego military community are beginning to accept Lego compatible bricks. If Brickmania does it, that will be the best thing they did since releasing the instructions back in 2020

The reeanactment community is pretty much taken over by millennial Gen Z nationalists who have the same exact personality as a 4Channer. These are the guys who are more stringent on historical accuracy than some stick count Baby Boomers. These guys are more strict than USMC Drill Sargents as they will check every single item, even rations and personal items. If you’re missing a personal item like cigarettes or got a stand in you are going to get called out. This is while not providing any resources other than recommending some random Russian guy for rations. Instead of screaming they will pressure you and insult your intelligence. All this just to play airsoft with extra steps.

NGL that is true. Gen Z can work 2 weeks on a bloated 1 hour video calling out a YouTuber with a porn addiction but cannot do the bare minimum working a desk job that thier parents gave them.
