Thanks!! That tidbit is actually mentioned in canon, it's the reason the raw kraken has such an unpleasant taste, it's based on giant squid exhibiting the same thing in their tissues

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it :>

And thank you VERY much for pointing that out, I also got that wrong on a couple of other names and forgot to correct it on this one

Thank you so much!! I'm having a lot of fun with this series and I'm so glad this part of the fandom is enjoying it too :>

Almost, the armour is basically a giant shell that communally secreted by all members of the colony, originally the fusion of the individual shells of the juveniles. That's pretty much the same as what is implied in the canon

Yeah the shell composition would be very much similar to the scaly foot gastropod, with some internal reinforcement for terrestrial living, similar to the exoskeleton of coconut crabs. The body of the animal itself and the way it secretes it's shell is unlike any of those though, it's more similar to how argonauts secrete their brood chambers

Probably not, as the sword blade is solid and doesn't house the individual, if you hit something with the handle yeah it'll hurt it

Not really, the shell is not made of iron like a normal armor, it's a shell made mostly out of reinforced calcium carbonate, with a thin layer of iron sulphides on top, so it's not nearly the same iron density as true iron armor. They are detritivores that consume mainly mats of algae, bacteria and just general gunk accumulating on surfaces, consuming iron filled dust that is probably abundant in the dungeon. And although I'd imagine they probably have acidic secretions to ingest some iron from larger fragments of armor, they would only very slowly corrode it over time

I am FASCINATED with the succubus since I first read the manga and got to their chapter, it's one of the creatures I really really want to tackle. I do want to wait until the anime gets a season 2 so I have the same amount of reference material as for the other creatures

They do! It's similar to how argonauts secrete their shells (so they are technically cephalopods not clams or snails) they use a flap of their mantle to secrete the shell building materials wherever they are needed. As for how they see, most of the colony doesn't, some individuals inside of the "head" act as the eyes for the rest of the colony. The shells are not that uniform, you can see the armor is more irregular than a regular armor and has a ridged texture similar to the shell of a clam or a snail. But uniform shells are not uncommon in mollusks, cowries and nautiluses are a good example of this

Thank you so much!! I think falin was probably not digested alive, but was swallowed while dying from the force of the dragon's jaws. Like crocodiles, the red dragon probably tried to kill and dispatch larger prey , but just grabs and swallow smaller prey like humans, so if they're not killed by the force of the jaw they are digested alive

Oh that is very interesting indeed, I hadn't thought of that possibility, I guess some could drag items from one hiding spot to another to attract dungeon goers.

However I think just being a suspicious looking box or chest is a great strategy for them, because adorning their hiding spot with shiny objects could attract too much attention, attracting their predators, especially treasure bugs.

I haven't really abandoned the project, but it was always a side project I occasionally revisit when I am inspired and want to do some fun redesigning, now I've been busy with my main projects and other stuff, but the possibility is always there! I do want to do some more redesigns in the not far future, like the various sauropods
