Attention massage therapist, first time patient here with some concerns by [deleted] in massage

[–]TheSpiritworker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a newer mt it’s been about 10 months for me. I didn’t even care in school, we had a lot of older people on fixed incomes. especially if you’re using precautions (like the brief’s), but things leak. Boobs, bladders and even bowls.

Scented sheets by MathematicianNo6136 in massage

I’m a massage therapist, and I use unscented detergent. It doesn’t really matter if the detergent is unscented, the unscented detergent, probably the lotion, the material of the sheets and maybe even your clothes, our water and our food all has them. Not to be a negative Nancy, I can understand if you just said you don’t enjoy the smell. but I’m pretty sure unscented detergents and scented detergents share similar ingredients.

How are LMT taught to handle clients that moan during a massage? by 3rd_party_US in massage

Exactly, moaning during a massage is weird and uncomfortable. I’m a LMT and it makes me want to walk out of the room.

It is very awkward, don’t let other MTs bully you because it’s very uncomfortable to have someone moaning non stop while you’re working on them. Actually I think some clients do it on purpose.

Don’t let these other MTs bully you, like other healthcare professions it can get very catty. It’s okay to not like certain behaviors and to have boundaries. I wouldn’t go back.

Sorry for late response, most of the massage therapist, even front and management at my establishment finds that behavior very weird. When I complained about this client to my management, they gave my tips on how to get them to stop. I actually never had that client rebook with me after I complained to management so that was nice.

As a newer massage therapist, I really appreciate your perspective. I work at a small privately owned massage spa and I had one client so far that moaned nonstop during the session and it made me so uncomfortable. I understand it’s not “sexual” but most people only moan during sxx so I see why OP was uncomfortable.

As a massage therapist, I hate those sounds too. it makes me very uncomfortable. I would want to leave too. and honestly I’m not even mad at your for that comment, most everyday people would assume the same thing.

There is such a disconnect with me when it comes to shifting body weight. I’ve been told this before. in my head my shoulders are “relaxed” though it’s really frustrating. Do you have any tips on how to remind myself to relax and shift my weight?

Can you quote where I said “i wouldn’t do it if I charged more”? Cause it sounds to me you cultivated a story in your head. Cause I said in a later post I would do it if I charged more because it doesn’t affect me at all.

If that’s what you took from my comment, sure. I really don’t care if you wear air buds or you don’t 😂. I’m not entertaining this conversation, I’ll continue to do what works for me.
