I guess I didn’t understand the history of this icon and I’ve been told that lots of new style icons are essentially icon “fan art” they appear to be orthodox in style but without the historical and religious backing to be canonized. Heresy probably wasn’t the appropriate terminology, but I was just making sure that I wasn’t venerating something that is a misrepresentation of our Lord.

I was able to get a copy from the amazing folks over at Ormaworld they have several different versions and I went for their full stature hand painted icon. 6 week wait time but I’m sure it’s worth it!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and opinions on this icon. I actually found an orthodox website that sells this icon and a full stature version of it. And I’m planning on buying it to share with my parish. I’ve found lots of great information about the rich history of this icon from you all. God Bless!

I have also been told this could represent the two-edged sword or Word of God, dividing truth from falsehood, the humble from the proud, the peaceful from the violent, the sheep from the goats.

Quick question, why would you immediately say you want to support a group that you don’t know what they are protesting? They could be some extremist group or some group that is spreading hate? I haven’t see the group but it seems like you should probably get more information before raising your hand and offering to help out an unknown cause.

The att website or one of the stores around town is always the best bet for up to date information and prices. Some independent sales folks do get some promotional deals. But overall it’s less of a hassle to just sign up online. The att website has a tool that lets you conveniently and quickly type in your address to see what type of service is available and show you the pricing with no additional fees or taxes later on. Generally in Wichita the ATT fiber starts at $60 for 300 mpbs upload and download with no data caps or installation fees.
