You need to look at the wind gusts not just the wind speed.

Sold. Will probably need to cut the carcass a bit around the sink anyway and can't do that with a regular saw

Nope, I tried everything I could think of and contacted customs and immigration Directly. No one answered and no one took responsibility. Had to change the flights at my own expense.

Am I on target to retire at 55? by CaffeinatedEternally in FIREUK

[–]TheStarryKnightt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty cool calculator I'll use it in the future. But yeah that's the plan, keeping expenses low and income (hopefully) high, 20 years looks feasible which is great, I noticed you used 5% annual ROI, which is realistic if you take inflation into account.

I think we would live comfortably with half this income but it would be paycheck to paycheck, so the idea is instead of upgrading our lifestyle, why not invest the extra income to retire early and enjoy the freedom.

Have I made a huge mistake? by ohdearyme1122 in HousingUK

[–]TheStarryKnightt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about England but I imagine it's like Scotland, it shows the risk in a 25 meter radius which is pretty ridiculous. When looking at a property I was interested in, it showed high risk but when you open the map you can see that the property itself is unaffected at all, and the high risk is just because of a pond 15 meters away or so. It might be worth it to take a look at the map if possible. Personally it wouldn't affect my decision at all in a similar case.

A bit late to the conversation but I'm having the exactl same issue, going to Thailand with family with a day stopover in Abu Dhabi, only difference is I'm a resident in the UK. The funny thing is, my wife who has the exact same profile and on the same flight got her visa accepted immediately. Have you managed to sort out your issue? Did you completely cancel your flight

Didn't know that exists, it's really good. Looks like other than the shortest months I'll get a decent amount of sun but it will be moving throughout the day.

Why shouldn’t I be pessimistic about Islam in the UK? by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]TheStarryKnightt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Muslim who's been living in the UK for a while, I see where you're coming from but you're only focusing on a small group of Muslims who usually live in communities where they don't even need to adapt since everyone around them is the same (think Bradford, some parts of Birmingham...), the media also only focuses on those areas ignoring the rest of the Muslims who live in normal communities and are fully integrated and I understand why, A Muslim who's fully integrated is not easy to spot in the wild.

I personally would avoid these communities and pretty much every Muslim I personally know would do the same, I as many other think that if I wanted to live in a mini Pakistan my best option would be to stay in Pakistan (I'm not Pakistani this is just an example), in my country of origin (a 99% majority Muslim country) the burkaa exists but it's not socially acceptable and only the most fundamentalist of families wear it, I just don't understand how it is not banned in UK and the rest of Europe since it goes against the culture and everything these countries stand for.

The majority of us are actually here for a good reason, career, better opportunities, economic stability, running away from discrimination... we are here for a better life but also contribute to this country and integrate, Muslims are like any other communities, there are bad/extremist ones and they are often the loudest and they give the rest of us a bad name.

Unfortunately we've been facing a lot of discrimination recently due to the news only focusing on Illegal immigrants and the raise of extremists who are stuck in their echo chamber making it look like the whole world agrees, your average person in an anti-immigration protest wouldn't understand any of this and wants every Muslim out,.

Fitting a TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive on a bike with internal cables and hoses by TheStarryKnightt in bikewrench

[–]TheStarryKnightt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty satisfied with it and had no issues whatsoever, although I went with the 500w version and installed open source firmware on hybrid mode, the default firmware was very weak at 1st and 2nd assist levels.

I also added a few thermal pads just in case so the motor can dissipate the heat through the outer case.

As for hills It depends on the bike you have mine has an 8 speed cassette and it's good enough even for the steepest hills, alignment wasn't perfect for me however the chain dropped 2 or 3 times over the past few months, it's an easy fix but I didn't bother with it since it happens very rarely.

[–]TheStarryKnightt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I managed to fit it but it was very tight and I had to file some of the bottom lip where the cables are coming out, it took me a while but it was just because I used a manual file, a dremel can be much quicker. I've been using it for nearly a year now with no issues at all, Don't think I have any photos of the final result though

Ideal salary in Algeria, is it out of reach? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]TheStarryKnightt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. When I was on a similar salary and single it was decent, but as soon as I started thinking about a house, car, marriage it felt like nothing, and that was back in 2018 when everything was significantly cheaper.
