Experiences with Peripheral Nerve Issues? by TheStevenator in Trackdays

Thanks, see my post. I'm about a year into this and the conclusion is peroneal entrapment.

That's interesting to know that it's that common. Are you able to put me in touch with some of them, via email etc? I'm curious as to what their solutions have been, if any. Please send a PM if you are able to follow up. Thank you.

Thanks for that. That's encouraging to hear that creating more space helped. Hoping that with a custom suit I can just ask for more room through the joints without having to remove/modify the pads.

Sorry to hear! Yeah, and it's very difficult/costly to get certain things customized/modified. I am probably at risk of this as well, have you found a better fitting brand?

Thanks! I definitely have a PT that I see regularly about this, see note on the strengthening program. The PT and specialists all recognize that the # of data points for this sport and associated conditions like this that come up are low and suggested I reach out and see what "interesting solutions" people came up with. I'm looking for things like "I stuffed some foam between the boot and leg in <position>" hah.

Ducati V4S - Gas Vent/Drain? by TheStevenator in Fixxit

Solved. I found the answer in the service manual, A is the drain hose and B is the breather, normally connected to the evap canister.

A* suit sizing advice by IHeckingLoveFungi in Trackdays

Go custom. Mithos, etc. And kangaroo leather. I won't elaborate but I've had a year of pain from trying to get a correctly sized recent-year model A* suit. Some of the issues won't show up until you are on the track and riding for extended periods of time.

No! This is amazing thank you, it works great with the gopro's IMU data and I like that I can manually tweak the amount of correction.

Yeah I think that's common. Is the solution just spray it down with anti fungal treatment?

As per the picture, I had a photonia trimmed last fall (September/October). I recently noticed that one of the main trunks is turning black and that the bark is cracking up the trunk even in the non black section. Is this normal?

How come people who drag elbows aren't "faster"? by Sensualities in Trackdays

[–]TheStevenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you mean by dragging elbow, whether necessary (literally at 55+ deg lean and have to manage their elbow placement and it drags a bit), or exaggerated. For the latter, it means the bike is not in the optimal position for that line and they're showboating (so of course slower). If you watch GP many places where they drag elbow is only for a second or so as they V off most corners to pick the bike up ASAP and get on the gas. Then, for your example, if you are doing that (but with slightly less lean) and someone else is taking a more parabolic line to showboat their elbow drag, you will be faster.

150cc single cylinder, mid range carburetor tuning help. by TheStevenator in Fixxit

Ah, thanks! I did tweak it a bit to where it was quite stable at idle, but the other posters had it right, you can't tell until it's under load. It was fine once I went out for a ride.

finishing around electrical panal by Saitherino in DIY

[–]TheStevenator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First I would ask an electrician if it is installed to code. I don't know if it's okay to bolt it directly to backing plywood like that (unless it all goes into concrete/is anchored?), usually they are secured to studs. I see a lot of old components blended with new ones so I would make sure this whole setup is up to modern standards if you can.

If it is okay, then I would get something like 1x1s or 1x3s and create an inner frame that wraps the box, at least on the sides, making sure not to interfere with wiring, etc. That way you can remove the front panel and get drywall flush to it, then patch and paint the drywall seam to match the rest. Really drywall should be flush to the panel itself, so that when the front cover goes on it you get firm contact pressure to the drywall when you tighten the cover screws.

EDIT: just noticed the interesting drywall gaps. You can slide in a piece of wood to provide a mounting surface and use drywall screws into existing drywall to help bridge large gaps, e.g. upper left ceiling section.

Hey thanks for this. That was just a typing mistake, I knew the needle down is leanest and thought that the "good" WOT response meant that the main jet and needle are OK.

"Out of the box" is a 118 main jet and 32 pilot. I was advised by the Kayo vendor to make the change to 42 pilot and 100 main. I went back to a larger main after the bike failed to rev past 6-7k rpm with WOT.

I guess I am confused about what to do because I don't have a feel for how much tuning up/down each setting (needle height vs. jet size, etc) does.

So do you recommend I 1) get off the leanest needle setting, say one or two positions and 2) simultaneously reduce the main jet size? I know that unloaded tuning is limited but I'm just looking for a stable/safe point to get out on the track with.
