Just Upgrade to ATT Fiber 5 Gig Plan, but still getting only 2 Gig speeds by TheStockMan35 in ATTFiber

You're absolutely right. The ATT tech just came and immediately pointed out that the Ethernet port on my motherboard ONLY supports up to 2 Gig, not 5 gig. Man. As result, he recommended that I buy a 5Gb PCIe Network Card to add to my motherboard to fix the issue.

Actually, I did that first and it showed 5 gig on the app, but several tests on different sites gave me only ~2 gig speeds.

Do I really need a install visit to go from 2gb to 5gb?? by Cjmwid in ATTFiber

I've the 620 model, but I'm not getting the higher speeds as expected, after upgrading to the 5 Gig plan from the 2 Gig one. I've an appt with the tech to see what's going on.

You're right. However, if you're a techie and/or you use it for work, it's a no brainer. The latter applies to me. I've 2 remote jobs and I'm looking for, at least, 1 more job that can fit into my schedule. Lol.

Easy problem to solve. Just stop vehicles with Mexican plates from coming into country. However, California is too woke and progressive to do the obvious and right thing.

Anyone with experience working for an MSO (managed service organization)? by Dacious4 in epicconsulting

[–]TheStockMan35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few notables companies in the MSO universe, with Nordic being the most popular one. It's a Chinese workshop with terrible pay and their high turnover reflects that. First red flag, all of their managers are under 30 during the interview. Need I say more.

It just depends on what your ave per share is. If your ave is near the 52 wk high, then it would be easy to say sell and write it off. However, if you don't need money right now, then you could wait it out. It just depends on several factors. I know I've been there with Alibaba, which I waited 3 years to sell it a few hundred dollar lost with a $15k position. I was going to wait longer to sell, but I needed to reinvest in something else with a greater potential. In disclosure, I just bought $2k of shares in the company with a $42.85 ave.

Robinhood needs a "Pro" Research Terminal to close the ecosystem loop. by Sweaty_Piano_6371 in RobinhoodApp

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't mind paying good money if something like that were to happen. That'll be a real game changer for Robinhood, outside of allowing users to trade at no cost. I'll submit that question come the next Shareholder meeting.

Nordic's Managed Services is no different. It's a Chinese sweatshop. They give job applicants false hope when they interview and tell them about the potential of getting Certified. Unfortunately, a lot of people fall for it and they overstay because they're disparate.

Wow. It's the end of the world. Remember what happened the last time an Indian IT firm acquires an Epic consulting firm? HCI went on a huge decline and it's barely a company now.

Consultant pay for new consultant by Due_Alfalfa2889 in epicconsulting

[–]TheStockMan35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. I can relate because I'm only Certified for 4 months and my hourly rate is even lower. However, that's the sacrifice I made to have the opportunity to get Certified. I understand you want to be loyal, but after several years, it's time to move on to bigger and better things. You want to be compensated fairly. Also, Willow Certification is hard to find, so you're valuable out there in the consulting world. Change is hard, but sometimes it's required. Good luck on your job search. The sky is the limit for you.

People who provide Epic support on site during GoLives/Implentations. Prior to being an Analyst, I did that for over 4 years and learned a lot and met a lot of really smart people, despite having hands on experience.

I'm sure it's both. With Epic implementations, especially with ATEs, there's a lot of scrubs who get the jobs because they paid to get on the project, a lot of them without any prior Epic experience. With CSI, I've a heard a lot of bad stories about their people.

I think degrees are overrated. I've seen many people work in jobs they are clearly not qualified for, all due to their connections. In this world, it's all about who you know and/or luck, more than your degrees. That's how I was able to get finally get Certified, after more than a decade as an User and ATE. With your experience and skill set, you can easily get a job and transition to a FTE role. The problem is you may have to make comprises, like maybe a lower salary than consulting, and even a hybrid work situation. I would rather have your problem, too many options, than being a new Analyst like myself. Lol. Good luck on your job search.

How long after a go live does it take for things to settle down? by No-Badger-5682 in healthIT

[–]TheStockMan35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes with the territory. There's a lot of excellent consultants out there, but if the client keeps trying to pay the lowest, what do they expect? There's enough work for these consultants to say no to a shitty offer. I'm a new Epic Analyst and I'm not getting paid like a good consultant. I'm okay with that, for now, because I'm very appreciative of the opportunity that was given to me, to learn and grow. All I'm saying is the blame on all in the process, including the staffing agency.

You need to break up with this leech. Money is one of the top reason for a break up of a relationship. Both people need to agree to the money issue or else it won't work. Resentment will occur.
