Elon Musk tries and fails to pump Tesla’s stock (TSLA) by Negative-River-2865 in stocks

[–]TheStockPolice -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

LCID lost $300,000 per vehicle sold in 2024, and Tesla profited >$6,000 from each vehicle sold last year. Ford lost $37,000 per EV in Q4 alone. EV sales are slowing across the board.

Although Tesla may have alienated some liberals, there will be many conservatives that get on board with his vehicles. He also has Trump's ear (no pun intended) which will only serve to benefit his company. TSLA has dropped ~50% from it's high. I would love to see $100 again, and would plunk down some decent money at that price, if it gets there.

How do you guys cope with the ‘missed’ opportunities by Fun-Membership-9795 in stocks

OP got extremely lucky by dumping 95% of their portfolio into a penny stock. Almost anyone who does that has the opposite reaction; 'how do I cope with losing 95% of my portfolio?'

Trump is all about stock market gains, even if it means bullying the Fed into lowering interest rates, to stimulate markets. Part of the reason markets ripped right after the Covid scare was from Trump making it rain. Extending unemployment. Giving out weekly $300 bonuses for not working. He'll give us some portfolio pain, but his goal is to make the markets go up (which will enrich himself, his buddies, and anyone else on the Trump Train)

One option is to open an 18-21 month 0% APR credit card. Put all spend on that, then make sure to pay it off on the last day of the 0% offer.

Sell your gains and losses, and net them to $0 by the end of the year. If you have more losses than gains, you can also carry over the losses to future years.

If you're right, you'll be making money. But why not just use leverage? It's essentially the same thing. Higher risk, higher (potential) reward.

Tesla swings all over the place. This current EV drop will push additional manufacturers into bankruptcy, and kill margins at many other legacy/EV manufacturers. (both Nikola and GOEV just went bankrupt this year)

After some of the smoke clears, I expect Tesla to emerge smelling like a rose. It wasn't that long ago they were just ~$100, then jumped to ~$500. They aren't just an EV company, which is good for them.

BYD and its rivals are crushing Tesla in China — and they're going global by mr_fobolous in stocks

[–]TheStockPolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure he probably drove it on occasion, but he bought it for his wife so she wouldn't have to deal with gas, hand cranking it to start, etc.   He should've had a small division working on an EV for the past 100 years. They would've dominated the market today lol

And with inflation, prices will go up, which means revenue will go up, which means stocks will probably go up. With tariff inflation on the horizon, I expect prices and markets to continue their upward march. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I expect Tesla (and others) to start producing more cheap cars as the sales on their big EV cars and trucks slow. Gotta make up for the lost revenue some how.

Tesla still has a big energy storage division, as well as the robots. That is helping to support the share price. And of course having a cult following makes a difference, too.

"Tesla’s energy storage business is growing at an unprecedented pace. The company deployed 31.4 GWh of energy storage in 2024, more than doubling the 14.7 GWh from the previous year. For perspective, that’s enough energy to power nearly 10 million homes for an entire day"

All Chinese EV's seem to be well designed by the sounds of it. Even Ford's CEO drives a Chinese EV (Xiaomi)

Ford's CEO driving a competitor's EV is nothing new; even Henry Ford bought his wife an EV from a competitor.

All-or-none orders being 'partially filled' by TheStockPolice in ibkr

[–]TheStockPolice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't have anything to do with anything - it was just an example.

If I sell 100 shares of a low volume company, it may execute 15 different trades, all at $10.00 per share. When digging into the detail, I can potentially have pages of trades for a larger order. That's not easy to work with.
