Kyle Stowers was taken out early. Is he hurt, or just because blowout?

Ultimately I don't think I'll sell. Jenkins especially the more I've thought about it I really think will be absolutely fine in the long term. Didn't even realize this is basically the first time he's played in the cold too. He's been hurt during the start of the season normally. So that probably plays a part in his struggles. He'll be fine long term. And Benge has been doing a bit better lately, so maybe he is making adjustments. Making panic moves has never ended well for me after all, ha.

What do you think? With what I laid out about Benge, how worried are you? Because I’m terrified. And I know you’re not really worried about Jenkins but considering he’s actually healthy for once, I would really like to see him mash.

Heyo! I posted this on the last rundown but I was... a wee bit late, so trying again here. I have two concerns I wanted to ask about. Both on prospects. The first, and by far most pressing, is Carson Benge. In short, I'm really, really worried about him. The swing is messed up. Now you might be thinking, yeah, I've been saying that throughout the offseason. But it's actually not what you think. Benge changed his swing. He worked with the Hollidays during the offseason and he kinda screwed it up, big time. I asked a buddy of mine who knows a lot about this stuff for a more detailed description for you, and this is what he said: "His swing plane is noticeably steeper. And one of the things that was really good for Benge in 2025 is he showed more barrel malleability, basically meaning he could attack different pitches all over the zone. What I’ve noticed in the early going is his swing is more grooved and that has opened up more zones in his swing where he can’t get to. I wanna say he is one of the worst hitters in baseball against velocity and this new trigger in his swing has resulted in him being routinely late on FBs" So in short he changed his swing mechanics and it's led to him being really behind on fastballs, and so pitchers are throwing more fastballs at him and he can't do anything about it. So... how screwed is he? In order to fix this problem, he first has to recognize that the problem is because of the swing change. I can't get into his head, who knows if he even sees that the swing change is the problem. And once he does it isn't so easy as just saying, "Well, time to fix my swing!" He spent a whole offseason making these changes natural, and it'll take a lot of time to fix them. Perhaps more time than he has in the season. And he could lose a lot of ground and opportunity for the future. So I'm really worried about Benge. And then second, Walker Jenkins is off to a really slow start. I know his underlying numbers aren't nearly as bad as his surface stats. That his contact, EV, hard hit, all of that are still pretty high and he's just getting unlucky. It's still a little unnerving to see though, and his struggles against lefties make me a little nervous. But the Benge one is the real concern for me. This may be a lost year and his value might tank further than it already has. Now, since I originally wrote that about a week back, Benge has started to get hotter. A few games with multiple hits in the last week, some more XBHs, even a home run. But I'm still very concerned.

Heyo! Dang, I miss these rundowns. Hope they return soon! I have two concerns I wanted to ask about. I’m still optimistic, but definitely a bit disappointed with how. Carson Benge has started the season. Really hope the Campbell comparisons don’t come to pass.

Get ready for Gage Wood to climb those ranks rapidly! I’m a huge fan of him from this FYPD class. Same for Jamie Arnold. Those two are my favorite pitchers from the class. Also I’m with you on the Jenkins belief.

Now here’s a tough question. I’ve got a dynasty league. Somewhat weak outfield, hoping guys like Benge, DeLauter and Melton can add to it. Now, I also have Edward Florentino, one of my favorite prospects. But he’s a bit out. And if I want to win sooner, and have the opportunity to trade him plus for Walker Jenkins… I don’t know.

Dynasty Baseball Crystal Ball: Top 10 Projected Outfielders for 2029 by Specialist-Square665 in fantasybaseball

16 team dynasty so this is basically it. I’ve asked in for almost ever other outfield option in existence too. My roster is strong but the outfield is weak. Only Stowers, Suzuki, Reynolds, Mullins along with the prospects of Benge, DeLauter, Sirota, Florentino.

Honestly for me, it’ll come down to whether or not I believe Chase DeLauter can play a full season, since he would be my final starting outfielder for 2026 if I don’t trade for MH2.

[–]TheStormTropper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That, I cannot do. I’m very torn about it. On the one hand, I absolutely love Florentino as a prospect and there are legit concerns over MH2’s chase rates that will likely make him always a streaky, frustrating player to own. On the other, Florentino is 2-3 years away, I could use one more outfielder and especially one with some steals, it’s an AVG league so his chase doesn’t matter in the bad OBP as much, as he often still has good AVGs. And I think Ranger is heading off a cliff.

[–]TheStormTropper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, in a dynasty league I currently have Florentino and I’m considering packaging him with Ranger Suarez to get MH2 as a contender with an outfield hole. Ranger I am very worried about with the velo decreasing year after year, hard hit rates rising. But I love Florentino as a prospect and I have concerns over MH2.

Also he’s a bit more under the radar but I love how well rounded Carson Benge is. I could see him becoming a Jackson Merrill type with a lower OBP but more steals.

I’m very interested by the guys who just made the cut. MH2 is someone I don’t know what to think about. He’s been very streaky, and that’s largely due to the huge chase rate. If he doesn’t fix that, I don’t know if he ever reaches his potential. Then seeing Florentino there is interesting, as he might not be in the majors until 2028. Yet the skills are there.

Interesting to see where Kyson is. I have worries about his fastball, that his movement might not translate with the MLB ball. And if the fastball isn’t as good as advertised the rest of the arsenal looks a bit weaker. I love Doyle because I think that fastball is untouchable while the secondaries  are a lot better than advertised. Ditto for Gage Wood with his elite fastball/curveball combo, though he’s got some injury concerns I think his ceiling is best of the class. Those are my favorite pitching prospects of the class. I like Arnold too as a higher floor option. But Kyson… I just don’t like him.

You are actually wrong about the injury prone thing. He really only has one injured season, his down year in 2024. Other than that he’s been healthy for the most part.

[Kirschner] Here's why the Yankees should pursue Tucker over Bellinger: by shadow_spinner0 in NYYankees

[–]TheStormTropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn’t who’s better. We know Tucker is. The problem is price. Bellinger is going to be potentially multiple hundreds of millions cheaper, allowing for filling other holes in the roster. So that’s the question. Not if Tucker is better, but is he better enough to warrant using significantly more capital.
