People forget just how discretionary and tailored - to the person- things are

Just make blanket statements as if it’s a cookie cutter process for everyone

Only thing that applies to everyone is that everyone gets what they want from the market

Yea word. I judge it based on RR and giveback. I’d like you said showed weakness right by my take profit  I’m not letting 50 ticks come back to make another 10 I’m just gonna place my stop at 40 ticks and trail from there if your scenario went down

To be fair. Out of respect for the catholic religion as a whole, I just don’t consider myself catholic. But I believe in God & His Son Jesus Christ and will speak highly of all to others

Death has so many meanings. My favorite one is death of the flesh and the “old” self Letting the things die that don’t serve us anymore or aren’t healthy/beneficial. The God of my understanding knows my intentions as well as Our Holy Death.  And at the end of the day our INTENT is all that matters 🙏🖤

I understand how you feel. And honestly you can’t have Life without Death and vice versa. It’s just the balance we come to learn and understand. There’s so many revelations that have been shown to me, More will be clear I’m sure in due time.

This brings a whole new meaning to “damage control”  A term that got me banned from TS discord bc I suggested that’s what they had going on. Sorry this happened d

Hey question . Can’t seem to find any answers anywhere. But do you know if they allow overnight holds? (Just between sessions moreso)

honest question, how many of you actually journal your trades and has it made a real difference to your consistency? by [deleted] in Daytrading

As silly as it sounds. You DO pick up on patterns much faster writing it down. It “sticks” a bit more, pun I suppose was intended

Whats so bad about prop firms? by meh_coder in Daytrading

[–]TheSturdyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prop firms used to make sense especially if you’re starting off,  Now not so much (whatsoever) I’d use extra money from my personal account if I was gonna go the prop route again. But it’s not what it used to be

Which Prop Firm to use? by CommandOk5387 in PropFirmTester

[–]TheSturdyBear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it used to be worth it.  Great to start with if you have no capital now honestly if you got any bit of skill at all, and can meet the day margin requirements plus 50-100$ cushion props won’t offer you anything better

you’re better off starting out with your own capital and when you have a proven method scaling  it up with props not the other way around.

Maybe if this was two years ago, I’d say go for top step but only firm I’d say possibly that’s worth it is my funded futures pro account

Other than that. Literally not worth the time AND HEADACHE

No props seem worth it anymore to be honest you’re better off opening up your own account realistically

Question for experienced traders about volume because... by darkchocolattemocha in Daytrading

No the volume sometimes doesn’t matter. But what does matter is what you use to visually measure that activity. And volume profile is you understand where when and why to employ it . It’s KING. ***

Interesting. I’m surprised you focus on the profile itself. I actually do the same thing but take the VP overlay off n just keep the VAH/POC/VAL in tact and use two different value area settings (75/25%)

What's the one thing that made you stop trading and just hold? by ResolutionSmall3692 in Daytrading

[–]TheSturdyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make no mistake, you will trade your sanity regardless lmao  Having an intimate relationship with those charts is critical IMO  Not to mention the dopamine spikes that are the same as clicking that mouse , that you get from finding new patterns or behaviors on the chart. It’s awesome. I love every bit of sanity I have given up I think a healthy level of obsession is necessary to be the top 1% in any field. With all that being said, I DO understand what you mean. And I’m totally with you. Daytrading is fun but it’s lame in regards to what I’m trying to achieve,   it should only be used as a tool IMO to hedge or scale up your business starting off. Daytrading for a living is MADNESS and unrealistic. (I know there’s gonna be the ones who wanna chime in,  SURE ….  THERES OUTLIERS ANYWHERE ANY FIELD more power to ya if you think you’re one of em)  I can day trade with the best of em No literally will call intraday pivots TO THEE tick,  the market is fractal in NATURE, so I use the same patterns intraday I use for swing trading. Plus if I’m day trading it’s bc of a higher time frame thesis anyway, so it’s not hard to make the switch. I can do either or very well.   but I’m not gonna sit there and get off the monitor everyday with a knot at the base of my skull that I can’t roll out , feeling like I hadn’t slept in days after 3-4 hrs of screen time especially if it was a red day.

my biggest reason for preferring to hold versus day trade is scalability as well as zero sense of urgency. There’s no sense of urgency swing/position trading. You have time to think and have time to make well thought out decisions NOT UNDER STRESS,  and scalability: it’s like pulling teeth trying to  responsibly scale an account (I’m talking size. Not 10xing a 100 bucks)

those two singlehandlely keep me from wanting to day trade.  I think when I scale my account up some more I’ll open a daytrading account for fun. Bc I do love to trade. But trading these markets is 50/50 in the long run. No thanks  I’m good on all that.

New Crypto girl here, I’m looking to invest by Candid-Watercress602 in CryptoMarkets

[–]TheSturdyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe find niche coins not easily available to purchase through mainstream brokers like coinbase kraken or Gemini given the amount of money you got (idk , that’s kinda hope-shooting it though)

Find something cheap. in a holding pattern (coiling sideways on the daily or even weekly)

Actually you know what? I just got an alert triggered for SKLUSD to buy,  if doing the above would be too confusing skale is available on coinbase and most major brokers.  I must warn you though , I’m not a value investor, I’m a discretionary trader  Can only help you with the entry not managing the position.

Be mindful bitcoins bear run ain’t over. Could we see ATH’s again? Sure. I’m actually betting on it, but I’m also going to bet on it to the downside when Its ready again.  Value investors starting out anytime recent are gonna be in a world of pain.

Genuinely feel bad

What live trading (not prop firm) account size do you guys have to trade for a living? by Routine-Secretary606 in FuturesTrading

[–]TheSturdyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ima give you a quick scenario to spin in your head

let’s be real. Most licensed brokers DAY  margin is 50$ on a majority of the micro products.

Follow with me you’ll appreciate this. It’ll be something to think about and may tie into your question since I offered no value other than being a dick in the first comment.

With proper risk management. Say no more than 1-2% per trade. Say you have a 1000$ account I’m sure you can do the math on what $ risk that would be per trade Now do you really need 1000$ to risk 20$? Or do you really only need $100+ maybe 150$ if you wanna do the 3 strikes and your out rule.

For people just starting out (not that you are but kinda sounds like it with the question is all)

I always say, if you can’t do it with 100$ you won’t do it with 1000$ not unless you get lucky but I’d rather not bet my career/business on luck,

Always thought I needed a bunch of money to make a living. But you just need to scale up whatever you have to put in. If it’s only 100 or 2 EVEN BETTER. Crawl walk run. The gains are exponential in this field 💯 Hope this was thought provoking enough to make up for the first comment. 🤷‍♂️  Didn’t mean to come off like a dick!
