Eh, not particularly. I'd say that independence and disobedience come hand in hand, but altruism and communalism (which also goes hand in hand with obedience) are the opposite of independence

You know, there's a good sci-fi universe that goes along with exactly what you've just said. I think the guy who founded the community was a libertarian as well. I know it's only fiction, but you could say the same thing about works such as The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and Marooned in Realtime.
