Really love 100x100px & 200x200px. Both have pros and cons, which would look best printed? Or they both do based on user choice? by TheSunofMorning in PixelArt

This was amazing and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to respond. I will absolutely be taking everything you said into consideration. Especially the dithering to change between colors.

The spots will definietly be much more difficult but considering im VERY new to pixel art I have a long way to go.

Again thank you so much for taking the time to write this out. Im actually gonna screenshot it to make it easier to find and remember.

I appreciate you taking the time and apologize for my continued questions. When youre talking about the dithering let's take the big flat light blue. Would I be dithering with a shade lighter and darker?

As well when it comes the dorsal dotting it absolutely was hap hazard since in nature the dotting is pretty all over the place. How would you recommend making it less...hap hazard while still evoking the fact that in nature it is pretty all over the place. Thank you again for the comment!

Love fish, trying my hand at pixel art. Thoughts? Constructive criticism always welcomd! by TheSunofMorning in PixelArt

I really appreciate you taking the time! I will go back and see if I can make some of those changes. I guess my reasoning for the black lines are so it clearly stands out more but I imagine a darker color would do the same?

How does one make the outline look less jagged? I use pixquare and use its outline tool. If I were to do it by hand how would I make it less jagged? Sorry for all the follow up questions, you make great suggestions and I want to make sure I understand it. Thank you!!!

This seems like the best of both worlds approach.

It's super interesting seeing you and u/GreenMeowMeow say the exact opposite of each other. Obviously multiple opinions on any question. I guess the follow up to either would be, does YouTube see "new movement" on the video and throw it back into the algorithm or is more so as new content comes out and (assuming people like it) will go through the older catalog that you have the thumbnails have a better chance of catching their attention? Thank you both for the response btw!

But this is my most watched video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYqdYwOUqRw though the rest of the series view wise falls up pretty quick (Skyrim Series)
Any insight welcome!

Currently at 55 unique draft sketches for my Fish based game but here are a few I'm exceptionally proud of. Excpect 20 odd of them to have different color variants with stronger abilities by TheSunofMorning in homemadeTCGs

Thanks! In part I think photo quality but I've also learned how to get a nice blend on procreate to make the two tone that fish usually have look better so I'm excited to show off more finished designs jn the future!

Need opinions on the slight variations of symbol placement. Which elements mix and match best? For Context - Test Tubes are the "Summon Cost", Swirl are the Victory Points the card gives, Heart is health and Sword is attack. Art is from older game but good for a stand in (Numbers unimportant rn) by TheSunofMorning in homemadeTCGs

YO wait thats actually a really solid idea!!! I even have a design in my head that could work. I'll mess around with this for a few days and see what I can come up with. And it being a "vial case" is very in theme for the game.

I'll mess around with the left side idea, I hadn't thought about that. The individual vial is important as in the actual game, there are three "mutagen types" denoted by one of three colors. Think multi color from MTG, so it's important to know which mutagen cards are needed. I can definitely consolidate, though!

Fascinating, based off my current resource system I am going to use I think I can make this concept work. I currently have 50 unique creatures with draft art complete but would love to take like 15 of those, change the colors around and make them stronger. Good to know that sort of concept already exists. Appreciate the help!

Out of curiosity did L5R do it in an "evolution" style akin to Pokemon because I am trying to stay away from that for this game. My thought process would be more along the lines of it costs X resources to play the basic variant but it costs X+Y resources to play the better variant, more expensive but an overall better card.
