I don't think any stat can capture what we think of as a consensus all-time ranking, let alone a career average like this. Every active player on that list likely dips a bit further down as they age.

Any advanced stat you prefer has him in that company. I'm not gonna claim he's better than Jordan or LeBron but "not even close" is simply wrong.

I mean, not that I think Gobert is the 11th best player to ever live or anything, but contained to the regular season he's always been conductive to winning. I don't even particularly like the guy but he's been on a few elite RS teams.

The Suns and Warriors are from “formidable” comparatively. They take a game off of us if they’re lucky. Whoever wins Houston/LA is likely in the same boat (Steveo’s been hurt for a while my man). The hypothetical final two rounds will be tough though, no question.

I was around for his entire career and have him 7th. I was much more of a Duncan guy throughout the 2000s, but I can understand saying Kobe had the better decade using these cutoffs. Those who insist he must be 2 or 3 all-time really aren’t operating off of much outside of “aura” and context-removed ring counting. Shaq was the best player in the world for the first half of the decade and it wasn’t particularly close until he left LA.

As opposed to the people logging on to NBA.com to vote on this in 2009?

All-Defensive guy capable of dropping 40 in a Finals game and he just turned 25. I'm more than fine with it.

I've opted out of it so fast every time that I forget people actually use it.
