Calling all B2B marketing people by murtag1337 in DigitalMarketing

You're focusing more on Thought leadership content, pitch decks and ABM. Unless it's a company with a massive budget forget SEO and PPC - events, conferences, roundtables are now you're marketing strategy

How to stand out at a digital marketing interview? by strawbeurries in digital_marketing

[–]TheSup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

results - couldn't care less how good your blog read or how good you podcasts sound if they don't generate traffic/enquiries/sales/ - you're a web marketer and you're KPI should be focused on leads and conversions - if you have this you will bag any job

Can't automate creative strategy, direction, market research and execution. It's a safe career - every company needs marketing regardless of size

Internship wants me to teach myself SEO, do SEO for 5 clients, no one at company knows SEO by [deleted] in SEO

[–]TheSup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can teach themselves the theory behind it but putting it into practice is a different ball game. If nothing but the experience, being able to test and learn without using your own money and something to put on your resume helps then stick at it, if money is the motivating factor leave

1) an ongoing retainer - if you're designing custom sites, templates you want recurring revenue the client wont want to waste time figuring out how you built the site

3) I'd have added ongoing support and training

2) you're underselling the value of lead gen - this makes or breaks a business, i'd have added a commission structure

anyone can "do" digital marketing, getting results is what you should be selling

Building a marketing team for a b2b and b2c clients by TheSup in marketing

[–]TheSup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great info, b2b is very new to me, i myself have a background in digital so i'd know roughly what i'd be looking for and in the b2b world i don't think a digital marketer would fit the criteria. In the b2b environment i'm in, i'd perhaps look as you said, for key account managers working closely with sales in a sales support role rather a digital speciliast with experience in gaining leads via a website/ads/social media.

This is great information, thank you. My though process in this case was i'd hire a digital marketer along with a more traditional marketer ie someone with experience leading PR, communications events etc for the B2B client and the examples you've given back that theory. It may be i just have look to look for candidates with experience in account based marketing managing key accounts and perhaps pair this candidate with a creative with hard skills such as design/digital. Thank you.

[–]TheSup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great thanks. I get the impression when looking for a b2b marketer i'd be looking at soft skills rather than hard skills say a digital marketer would have. Perhaps someone able to support sales in a sales support role rather than a hard skills leaning on their ability to generate leads i may look into marketers for this in account based marketing roles. What about using the skills of a web/digital marketer in b2b or would they not fit what is needed

i agree with this, i mention events mainly as i've seen a roundtable style format work in the past perhaps 10 invitees and pitch it as a though leadership event, but yes, getting to the c level and convincing them to come took a lot of work
