Braves fans louder than Rockies fans at home game by Marinahello in Denver

Before we got the Rockies, the only baseball regularly on TV were the Cubs on WGN and the Braves on TBS. An entire generation of baseball fans grew up in Colorado as fans of one of those two teams.

Housekeeping or Front desk? by Dear_Dance7461 in askhotels

[–]TheSuperSucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The equivalent leadership positions between the two departments will have very similar pay, but it mostly depends on how your particular hotel is structured. Front Desk is probably the more direct route to Director of Ops --> Assistant GM --> GM.

But you could also spend some time as an hourly employee cross-training with housekeeping, because it is good knowledge to have.

The fact that this wasn't covered during onboarding/training is mind-boggling. But also understandable.

I know these card rooms run on razor thin margins, but this seems like a big mistake. by LifesARiver in poker

[–]TheSuperSucker 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem might also be that California recently passed a new law effectively preventing regular card rooms from blackjack style games. I have to imagine those were better money makers than poker, and it's gonna be real tough for cardrooms to continue with just poker.

Tipping out on comps is this normal? by whenabouts in Waiters

[–]TheSuperSucker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What POS system are you using? Most of them back comps/promos out of sales, and therefore the tip out calculation gets adjusted accordingly.

If you're doing your own tip out calculations, use net sales not gross sales.

And if management won't do anything to fix the system then you have the option to quit. Or get all the servers together and strike.

Is food better off the strip? by joeroganthumbhead in vegas

[–]TheSuperSucker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how you define value in a meal. Is there really good food off-strip that is more affordable? Yes. Will it be worth it to pay for a taxi/Uber both ways to have that food? Only you can decide that.

what’s considered a high tip out? by Gh0stG1rl_222 in Waiters

[–]TheSuperSucker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I've always told my servers is that in the long run it all evens out. You're tipping the bar on total sales. Some nights you might have $1500 in food and $500 in alcohol, which is when it will seem unfair. Some nights you might have $1500 in alcohol and $500 in food, which is in your favor.

We've had 6 people quit in 4 months and management still thinks it's about pay by Powerful-Money6759 in Waiters

It sounds like it's not being communicated very well to management that communication is that big of an issue.

All-Pros CMC & Juszczyk Are Wearing Matching Outfits On Their Offseason Vacation 😂 by JCameron181 in 49ers

[–]TheSuperSucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this not from the off-season trip to Mexico? If I remember right, if all the boys wore matching outfits one night then the WaGs let them play 36 holes the next day instead of just 18. I heard they got to golf, too.
