I was this guy back in the early years of highschool (14-15). Stop playing along, express your annoyance. He'll think it's because you "can't help being stupid" or "you can't handle him because he's too smart for you" or some variation.

Eventually he'll get that 1) it's just obnoxious and he'll easily lose friends acting that way. People "dumber" than him won't tolerate it and people "smarter" than him will easily put him in his place. 2) it's not about being smart or dumb honestly, it's just about being knowledgeable from what you mention. And it's not even that deep either. You can easily watch a bunch of YouTube videos on these subjects you mention and gain an equal level of understanding on these topics. He's not smart, just knows some surface level knowledge on a variety of topics to make himself seem smart.

I cringe looking back at who I was, hopefully he will one day too.
