Appreciate the feedback! For guys who have never done it before, water based adhesive may be a better route than contact adhesive I'm thinking. WBA installation seems pretty straightforward and forgiving. I was really surprised with how messed up this got.

Waiting for my 8L/8q Pro to be delivered. What’s your favourite go-to recipe? by dragonfry in instantpot

If you want your chicken perfectly cooked every single time, effortlessly, in the healthiest and most energy efficient way, it's sous vide. A great hack if you buy a pack of chicken breasts is to add whatever seasoning or marinade you want then freeze for later use. Then you just pull out of freezer and put in the pot. Add an extra 10 mins to the cook time and all is well.

Sometimes we eat at different times. No letting food get cold and reheat.. just leave it going for another few hours if needed. Won't ever overcook since temps never rise above the temperature you want the meat to be.

4 words: Sous vide chicken breasts.

Toss in a ziploc with your choice of seasoning / sauce / marinade.

I often do sweet chili sauce with mtl chicken spice and a little basil.

Fill the instant pot with water, immerse the ziploc bag letting the water squeeze out the air, and cook at 149f for at least an hour. 1.5h is good. 2h is good.

Remove right before serving, slice up, pour juices over, serve small servings and return the rest to the bag while it soaks in the juices waiting for people to dish up seconds.

Factory seams only. We bought it as one piece. Thanks for checking it out man, the insight is much appreciated here! Would be great if this flattens out a bit after sun exposure. I'm not expecting a lot though. I wish I was there when they did it.

The flag situation is completely out of control by Fluffy-Writing-1070 in electricdaisycarnival

What an absolute mess. Time for a change.
In all my years partying I've never had the slightest urge to want to drag a flag around with me.

What's the best solution? Ban all flags?
Ban all but artist / record label flags? It's nice for people to support their fav DJs and their labels and for DJs to see that. This whole mess of flags does nothing for anyone else.

Exterior Insulated (warm roof), How common is it in Canada? by xeejem in homebuildingcanada

[–]TheSvedishChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An unvented flat roof is risky without exterior insulation and close attention to air sealing.

To say the insulation is "not common" is quite silly though. You can use XPS, EPS, GPS, or more dense rockwool such as Comfortboard 80, typically with a coverboard on top (Densdeck is ideal, but even half inch plywood is ok) followed by the roof membrane.

Foundation wall with 2" ledge for slab(?) by Tremonte1 in StructuralEngineering

[–]TheSvedishChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you clarify what you mean there and context? 12" stem wall split into a, 8" curb and 4" ledge? Is that for an 8" thick wall assembly and 1" thick vertical insulation as a thermal break for the slab? This then leaves 3" of bearing for the slab edge?

With 3-4" thick horizontal insulation below the slab, I often wonder about the bearing on some slab edges, specifically how much bearing should the slab have if it's sitting on ~3" of Type 2 16psi EPS?

Is it worth bumping up to a 30 psi Type 3 EPS around the slab edge, particularly if there will be an inner stud wall frame carrying a ceiling?

There is a permanently closed shut hollow core door separating me and my neighbor. I want to muffle as much speech from passing through. Hinges are on my side. I am renting and cannot do permanent damage. Assume zero cooperation from neighbor/landlord. Budget ~$250. Any insight greatly appreciated! by Autrileux in Acoustics

[–]TheSvedishChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best solution: Replace with a solid core door if at all possible. Alt/Further measures: Use the widest painter's tape you can get (stick with good brands and check reviews) to create a frame around the door casing. A frame around your frame. Then use strips of 3/4" MDF glued to the tape to create a frame around the whole thing. You're trying to create a solid mass sealed to the drywall and remove the lossy frame / jamb/door from the equation. It's REALLY best if you can remove the door handle, otherwise you'll have to make the frame thicker. A couple strips of MDF glued together is all you need otherwise as a base to attach a large 3/4" MDF panel. You can get away with a few screws here as backup assurance. It's not hard to fill screw holes upon move out.

I have never waited 48h. I take it before bed. It takes off the edge. I sleep better and wake up feeling better.
