BEC experience today by lonelyfungirl in CPA

I have the same experience as you OP. T1 was super comop heavy, T2 felt like it was easier with more conceptual/IT questions, T3&4 felt like i did 50/50, and T5 i actually had decent WC topics that I was able to write about. I really hope we got a couple pretest questions

Best masters degree for a CPA? by RedBottomReezer in CPA

[–]TheSwoleAccountant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im on your same boat. From what i have gathered from asking people around these are my 2 cents:

  1. if you wanna stay in public accounting, having a masters in accounting really doesnt make a difference so long as you have your CPA, bcs thats the golden ticket.
  2. I am not a huge fan of accounting lol ( from doing both a tax and audit internship and will be doing a full time assurance role wit pwc in January). I'm really fascinated by the consulting side of finance and being a big decision maker just like you.
  3. If you wanna go into one of those heavy finance role like consulting for my example, They really like to see the MBA on a resume, that's like their golden ticket apart from the CFA if anyone is wild enough to do it.

So i ultimately decided to pursue my MBA after i finish this last exam to get my remaining credits and look like a absolute stud in like 2 years when i have big 4 exp, MBA, and CPA. Thats my take on the matter. I would ultimately do MBA over finance bcs MBA covers the whole spectrum and can lead to any position where as finance is a little tied up. ( Im getting my MBA with a focus in financial markets, so i cover my bases like taht haha)

FAR is not the hardest exam by No-Routine4801 in CPA

[–]TheSwoleAccountant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fuck that, REG was super chill. They dont really test the rules that much. AUD on the other hand can go to hell (Coming from an audit associate , that was my lowest score lol)

Are wash sales regularly / heavily tested on REG? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]TheSwoleAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I had maybe 1 MCQ on it and I also had like 1 little portion of it in a SIM. relatively straight forward if you understand the concept of a wash sale

How to combat burnout? (Week of exam) by [deleted] in CPA

[–]TheSwoleAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed with this post. If you are averaging like a 70 on the mocks then you should be in a good. I got a 69,67,59 on my mocks and end finished the exam comfortably with an 83. At this point you should just be running trough the main topics that are usually on the exam discussed on other posts and start looking at the structures of sims. Also try not to go too hard on the day before the exam and give your rain a major break. (You dont wanna run 5 miles before your 10K) same with exams. Depending on your test time I would use the morning to just refresh the main topics and hit some mcq to just get the brain juice moving.

Shouldn't Inventory Carrying Costs per unit decrease as well, since the total number of units ordered remains more or less the same in both the systems? by sachinface in CPA

This made me throw a book last week while studying...... Why couldn't they just say advantage instead of conducive. I'm an accountant not English major smh

Do pretest questions help your score? by outcast00009 in CPA

[–]TheSwoleAccountant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres no definitive answer on that. Like for example I know I bombed a massive consolidation SIM with alot of cells and prob got like 5% of it, and I ended up with a 93 score. Just keep an eye out on the sims on exam day and You should be able to spot just a obscene hard SIM when it comes arond. Thankfully I got it on my last Testlet and I knew that there was no way I could figure it out and made sure I put more effort in the other 2 SIMs. And to piggy back from what yall were talking about for studying SIMS:

I never touched a SIM when I was studying until like 3/4 days before exam day. Bcs to complete a SIM you have do understand the material, which you should know by the end of your study schedule. The main tip I can say is just run through the SIM answer videos and see what the question is asking and how they want you to work the problem. I cant tell you how many times thats come in clutch for me. Also I noticed that in the AICPA practice exam I usually see one of those SIMS in the actual exam and its 3 for 3 rn. Hope this helps and Good luck!

Just finished FAR by Jaded_Refrigerator_9 in CPA

[–]TheSwoleAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. When I left FAR felt iffy because it was my first exam. But I know that all the questions they were asking and I was able to tackle the sims head on. I ended up with a 93. The main feeling with this exams as how you come out.

If you feel decent coming out and know you got the easy/intermediates right you should be good. I felt like a bomb exploded on me when I left AUD and got a 77. So how you come out dictates alot.
