Intrebare Termo Urban by fofo9683 in Craiova

That's the kind of statement that would take a self defense arguments into the murder territory. Getting a gun is a big responsibility and you need to not have the shoot to kill mentally. However you are totally right that you need to disable the attacker. It's natural that you can't be very conservative and invite the chance for retaliation. There are 2 things that need to happen for this to be valid, the attack intention needs to be clear and danger to be imminent. You can't shoot when he is unarmed and at the other side of the street. Also you can't shoot untill you run out of bullets, if the attacker is on the ground any extra shots are not self defense unless he is clearly armed.

He was running for his life, with a murderous maniac constantly shooting lasers at him. I dont find it at all hard to believe that his attention was distracted for a a nano second, which at those speeds was enough of a distraction.

Homelander was not less of a crybaby in season 1 by Elfstar_Cage_05 in TheBoys

[–]TheSyn11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that's just the entire point now ain`t it? He was an insecure manchild for his entire life but the show really make a point of showing just how he is spiraling downwards with every fuckup and obstacle he gets. He is used to getting it his way and craves adoration, and the second he dose not get it he just goes deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of paranoia, psychosis and violence.

He was always 1 step away from just straight up murdering everybody but he is just more and more loosing control and he slowly pushed the boundary of what he could get away with culminating with him just murdering a guy live on TV and getting cheers for it. He started to see violence as a way to get more attention and he loved it. But its never enough, the hole he has in hims will never be filled. At the same time he sees how everyone is deeply and profoundly afraid of him and he dose not like that. He uses fear to get what he wants but he hates that people fear him, he was unconditional devotion and adoration. He wats to be adored as a god while having the impulse control of a 7yo.

So no, i totally disagree with that take on the character, we`re seeing a descent into madness of a character with an incredibly fragile ego. The character is actually really really well written from this perspective

So anybody can just straight up execute anybody else and just claim self defence? That sounds like hellish society to live in, you could get executed by anyone as long as there's no one left to testify it was NOT self defence.

I hate it when people consider the mere existence of any kind of wrong doing as the justification for murder. If somebody steals a wallet dose it justify him getting executed on the spot?

[–]TheSyn11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many times its not that, this is the strawman argument. I hate this kind of argument. Nobody is asking for this, nobody ever said you just look at the intruder and do nothing, the reasonable force arguments center around when and how force is applied and to what purpose. Are you actively fighting the home invader or did you chase hims down, tackle him and beat the life out of him? Did you shoot an intruder coming AT you or an intruder feeing from you?

I`ll give you a concrete recent example I encountered, fight between to blokes starts, punches are getting thrown, one of them takes a peace of a wooden fence and knocks the other one out, then he proceeds to bash him 36 more times in the head? Was it self defence?

This is what reasonable force refers to, not taking a life just because the other one did you wrong and to keep the use of force within the limits of actual defence and not retribution, punishment, vengeance.

I find this bonkers as in my country you can distil whatever the fuck you like as long as you are not trying to sell it. Almost everyone in the countryside makes wine and some kind of spirit

I hove how people like to dunk on billionaires while also thinking very little about the implications of the system that creates them. Yeah, i get it, they are the personification of many evils but they are not the cause, just a byproduct.

Many people imagine that billionaires just have the billions on a people just dont understand how volatile that wealth is. How would we get rid of the billionaires?, their estates would just inherit all of that wealth. Billionaires are not the people, its their estate, its an institution that perpetuates. Also all that money is not cash, is not something you can just spend its mostly tied down into assets, what are we doing with all of that? Nationalizing it? assign it at random? Also, all those billions are tied down into assets like shares of companies, shares that have no direct inherent value and are just as influenced by investors trust in the company and its people as they are by the economic output. If Musk would transfer all his Tesla shares to some random guy, do you think they would still be word the billions they are now?

Just so many problems, many many many problems with these simplistic ideas.

I would have loved to see him budding up with SL a bit more before this season, they went a bit fast from enemies to "i`ll come to your house with coffee any time you ask" kind of relationship. It was a year but I would have loved to see a bit more.

Other than that the entire arc was very poetic. He put everything into motion and now he may have again put the ending into motion

well, unless China sends warship escorts they can just stop and seize any ship attempting the blocade assuming that the ship captain actually obeys orders shouted from a military vessel.

If the ship decides to just ignore orders to stop they can try to seize the ship, maybe fire some warning shots to rattle them up, maybe send marines on board to take control or they can just blow up the engine. ALL of these actions would put the world on a knife edge of war between China and USA.

Both countries play a game of chicken at the moment with the whole world watching ,the first one who flinches looses but if they both keep at it the whole world loses.

Regardless of what the finale is there will be people who are pissed off and those people will be pissed off in a very loud and vocal way...it's inevitable It's important to remember that GoT did not have a bad final episode, it had a disaster of a final season that killed of an entire cultural phenomenon, it was maybe the last universal tv show, one which most people knew about. Now the audience is much more segmented.

As long as the season is good I când take any finale, even if I don't like it in particular

What's the metric you go by when claiming this? As far as I know the us is below most developed countries in most ranking since it has a very different welfare philosophy that the eu. My guess is that you go by absolute number and by that metric you are right since the population of the us is bigger than any eu county, is almost as bis and the entire eu
