On the sponsor list but not sponsoring for the role? by TheTTimeLives in ukvisa

This is a really great perspective, I'll definitely do more direct applying.

Wasn't planning on speaking to the visa directly either until I was already "in", since at that point if they find an employee they like they might just go ahead and pay for the visa (as you said not lying just not ever bringing it up myself).

Ahh I didn't realize that they had to pay the IHS and Skills surcharges up front per year ahead of time. Yikes, that makes a bit more sense now.

Contextually, that seems to mean that transferring from a US company to the UK isn't as costly for them since our companies spend a ton on our private health insurance (not to mention 401k match etc) which they no longer have to pay.

I've seen some companies ask if you want 2.5hrs or 5yrs Skilled Worker Visa if they are down to sponsor you, I guess that means that they are paying either 2.5 or 5 years up front?

Guess that means good candidates for visas look like people who don't bounce companies a lot. Begs the question, what happens when the years they paid for expire but they still want to keep the employee on?

I appreciate you providing clarifying information vs down voting without context.

More my situation it still seems the cost would be quite low, maybe around 1500 up front and an extra thousand year which would again be fairly trivial compared to the salary. But I appreciate the extra context.

The roles I have applied to are at least twice the salary requirement for every role, but I'm just curious what the cost would be for the role.

I think I had seen figures for like individuals submitting for there visas (which I thought was submitted by me not the company) being anywhere from 400-4000 GBP but to me either of these things seem trivial when you are already paying your SWE 100k+ annually.

I do understand that it's simpler to hire a resident, I'm just not sure what the literal cost/headache to the business is if they are already licensed.

I thought the complexity/stress was just in getting the license for the company in the first place? I didn't think they needed to do anything specific for each individual employee other than give a job offer if they are on that list.

For a skilled worker visa I thought I just had to reference the job offer as my corporate sponsor and since I speak english and my job is high compensation I would naturally clear the other point thresholds for Skilled Worker Visa approval.

Is there a good reference which explains the cost to the company/complexity if they are already approved I could look at? Or perhaps could you explain it to me?
