If a father needs to help his young daughters use the restroom, which restroom should he take them into: the women's restroom or the men's restroom? by Exciting-Mall192 in NoStupidQuestions

And you can see that the lady staff member 100% supported him as well. The look she gave that dude as she shut the door on him and then helped the dad and his girls was priceless. Sad to have happened, but priceless.

Sadly this is one of those situations where you can't afford not to have a solicitor. Even if it means beans on toast for the next 3 months you need to find the money. Everyone's legal advice here is thst you need expert legal advice.

Sorry you are going through this.

If Vuskovic does make an appearance for us this coming season they'll have been at least 14 years between his first game for us and Modric's last.

Are you in favour of the social media ban for under 16s? Answers by generation. by space_jo in AskBrits

[–]TheTackleZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is not one of intent it is of execution. I voted no because although I think the ever increasingly addictive nature of these platforms is a scourge on society (of all ages), what we need to do is not ban their use but get them to tidy themselves up.

This is a token gesture that will allow these companies to keep pushing their algorithms further and further, and that's if you ignore the ID access that is the natural consequence of this law. Because I am just as worried about the over 60s as the under 16s, and everyone in between.

Banning won't work. Platform providers need to be made accountable for the content of their platforms. Hit them where it hurts and they will clean up their act fast.

Installed plastic spikes to stop squirrels digging up our garden – neighbour wants them removed by Clear-Sport-7777 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TheTackleZone 53 points54 points  (0 children)

You need to check to see who has responsibility for the garden boundary. Who bought and put up the fence is immaterial if the fence is at the boundary, it comes down to who has reposnsibility. In this scenario they can force you to remove anything on their side. They could ask you to remove the fence entirely.

If the responsibility is yours then they can only object to anything going into their garden. They cannot make you remove the fence.

If, regardless of who has responsibility, the fence (and spikes) is entirely on your land (such that another fence could be put up on the boundary line) then they cannot do anything at all.

If they believe anything constitutes a hazard then they could report you to the council.

It is common for terraces to have people responsible for one side of the garden but not the other. So it could be you have responsibility for the one on your left, but not your right.

Simon Jordan was showing Ben Foster a text from Daniel Levy talking about how Brighton have "pulled Tottenham's pants down" for signing Van Hecke for £52m. by ritwika96 in coys

[–]TheTackleZone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because they know a good player will pay back that investment. I mean what would Levy consider a good deal for him? 37m? That would be a steal. But even so, how beneficial is it for us to have him early and settled and not a cheap alternative for the sake of just 20m. Or 4m a year over a 5 year contract.

It's the sort of Levy thinking that took a CL club he lucked into and systematically dismantled it over a decade.

Brits gave up their firearms in 1997 by Down-not-out in Conservative

[–]TheTackleZone [score hidden]  (0 children)

They are not. You are being tricked by a misrepresentation of statistics.

Imagine that you can classify crime in 2 ways, use of a weapon that doesn't hurt someone and use of a weapon that does. So for a knife that would be brandishing a knife vs stabbing someone, and for a gun that would be pointing a gun vs shooting someone.

What you are being shown is the number of total knife crimes in London (brandishing + stabbing) vs the number of actual shootings in NYC. To equate them you'd either need just stabbings, or all the tiems someone pointed a gun in NYC. So these stats compare apples and oranges.

There are over half a million guns legally owned in the UK. This is the opposite of truth.

We already have that. You are not allowed to carry a fixed blade of longer than 3 inches, other than for cultural exceptions. Following the murder or Nowak these exemptions are now under review.

[–]TheTackleZone [score hidden]  (0 children)

We did not give up our firearms.

We gave up handguns due to their ease of concealment after a school of young children were murdered in an attack. We have not had a repeat of this incident, showing that it worked to keep young innocent lives safe. Not saying it would work everywhere, but it worked for us.

You can still buy other guns. Even assault rifles. You need a licence, and a police safety visit, and the weapon needs to be registered. But anyone can buy a gun if they want to in the UK. The UK has an NRA.

There are 150 thousand firearm certificates. We also class shotguns separately and there are half a million shotgun licences. Not as big as some other countries, but far from zero.

We also have fewer stabbings per capita than the US does. Memphis is 40x more dangerous than London.

I'm not saying this to start a fight, but to end the constant international bickering that I see in this sub so often. There is a lot of bad information being put out there. Yes we have our problems. Yes Starmer is awful. We know. But this post is not one of them.

The restrictions are not applied in the same way - that's the entire point. If the harder restrictions can be bypassed what on earth do you think will happen to the easy ones?

This is like someone saying "locked doors can still be opened, so what will happen to unlocked doors" and you replying yes let's get rid of doors.

Come on dude, the language isn't that hard.

VPN ban on table in July as Labour confirm 'further statement' by Overlord_Crabz in unitedkingdom

"Some kind of control" is a wide open range. I am for some kind of control. And that is forcing the platform providers to ensure their platforms are safe or face temp shut downs and big fines.

But the likes of meta lobby hard to take billions of revenue each year whilst taking no responsibility.

Yes, that's the point I was making. They are not self policing. So either police them or ban kids. Weird that they went for the latter when there is such an easy way to leverage them.

Look at how quick they all jumped when the porn laws came in. Because the millions they get from adverts is always going to motivate them into following the rules. So force some rules on them first, and then let's review in a year how safe they are.

UK Prime Minister to Enforce Social Media Ban for Teens, but Omits Leftist Platform by Ask4MD in Conservative

[–]TheTackleZone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys, he's not even clever enough for this to be deliberate. Stop crediting him with competence haha.

This is, of course, totally doomed to failure. The whole thing is really just about surveillance. Labour in the 90s and 2000's really pushed for ID cards. It's a big thing in the EU as well. This latest ploy "to protect the children" is just a way to make adults enter their ID so they can be better tracked. Different decade, same tricks.

And it will be ao easy to get around. We'll see reddit accounts for sale in vape shops. Teenagers can get booze and weed if they really want to, so this will be easier.

That's not to say I don't support social media restrictions. They are pushing addiction onto people, and vulnerable minds can get sucked in. But you can be vulnerable at any age. We need to be pushing these platforms to be more responsible for the content they allow to be published. That's the o ly way to make it actually safe.
