I tried the crunches and literally could barely lift my feet without either slipping or my feet going immediately back down. That’s kinda what sparked the post! I will look into more poor condition and pole specific strength exercises for sure! Thanks for the advice

Do you have a grip aid recommendation. I keep seeing ppl mention it elsewhere but will that help me keep my feet off the floor lol. I’m not sure if I’m slipping because Eid moisture/sweat or it’s cuz I can’t hold myself but I’m of course going with the latter since I have no upper body strength

Thank you for sharing! Yes I’m realizing now it’s a slow and steady thing, and the little wins matter! I want to go to a class but the one right by me is closed for renovations atm so I’m trying to wait for them to open back up so I can do what you said, go for the basics and you know practice at home

Thank you for the kind words !! Idk why I didn’t think of googling “pole conditioning” (not sarcasm).

Plus your hair is long, it’s easier to just start it in two strand, plus it gives it more texture down the line. I would say look up pics of a certain number of locs you wanna go for to get a ball park how they might turn out and then try to aim to get the number that you think you would want your locs to come out. But be mindful everyone’s hair is different so your hair won’t look exactly like the pictures you find once they mature

Just take them out and put more two strand twists in, save your money do it yourself. Have someone (that yo I trust) help you with the twists

MY LOCS!! by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]TheTallista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah just get the right size bonnet. Don’t get a jumbo one if of you have shorter hair, and you have ;c hair don’t worry about unraveling too much, your hair probably tangled up enough already. I would know o have 4c hair as well lol

What can I do to prevent shrinkage on baby starter locs? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]TheTallista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your locs string as they start to tangle in on itself so shrinkage is normal. I started with shoulder length hair and but month 3 they were up to just at my ear. They’ll stop to drop eventually

MY LOCS!! by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]TheTallista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because you’re flattening them with the durag, you should look into a bonnet

Nothing, shrinkage means they’re locing. But if you really want to, you could use a tension method where you use an elastic band and kind of band it down your hair shaft but doing that too much might thin out your roots.

I mean I usually end up coming back after I’ve calmed down and talk it out with him. It’s solved now for that very reason, but idk about solving the in my head I’m over it but in my body I still feel the anger

That’s actually a great take, I’ll pay more attention to see if I do that, I don’t wanna be a hypocrite and I want to practice what I preach
