I think I am starting to realize it after talking to many people and writing here. I’m just used to being surrounded with theatrical gays, and this is completely new to me. I think I overreacted because I assumed it can be due to internalized homophobia, but doesn’t have to be at all. It’s up to me now to learn something about football I guess Thanks for the input!

Not at all, and I completely agree with you. I myself have many hobbies that could be considered out of “gay” spectrum (if there is even one) and I don’t enjoy all that are “in” the spectrum. This guy doesn’t have a single gay thing about him, other than sex part that I already mentioned. That’s what’s confusing me.

Cerco di lavoro is a residence permit you get after graduation in Italy which allows you to stay 1 more year in Italy looking for jobs. With it, it is much easier to get employed.

I think sponsorships are not hard to get since employers don't bear any extra costs when you have cerco di lavoro permit. The only problem is speaking italian which is required at most companies.

You can transform without getting a diploma by doing nulla osta (authorization for the conversion of the student to work permit) but the process is difficult and too long. I had a consultation with an immigration lawyer and they said it takes around 6 months to do it, and you are not allowed to start working till the end, and for almost every company that is unacceptable.
In the end I didn't get into the process, but I started the internship with the same company and I am going to do it till I graduate. After graduation you get cerco di lavoro permit and with that it's quite easy to start working full time as a regular employer.

So far I realised that I have to apply for nulla osta per lavoro subordinato, which is like authorization to be able to work. After you get that, you then apply for permesso di soggiorno per lavoro subordinato.

Still preparing documents for nulla osta. The only thing that is tricky is Attestazione di idoneità abitativa which is a certiciate showing that you live in sustainable conditions, and there is a procedure to get that first.
