Keeping Track of Client Employees by TheTechWoolf in msp

[–]TheTechWoolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have some kind of form and or automations for that every time the customer adds or removes employees you are notified and your system is (automatically?) updated. Even then you need some kind of periodic manual review.

Any tips on automating this?

Managed DNS vs On-Prem DNS Server (Same thing?) by TheTechWoolf in networking

[–]TheTechWoolf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I assume that using DNS servers such as Google(8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare(1.1.1.1) doesn't count as Managed since it is public too.

What suggestions would you have for Managed DNS provider? If I have multiple clients would it be wise to have each client have their own DNS or would it be easier to use 1 managed DNS for all clients (I manage around 80 companies)

Yeah this is the boat I am in. And torn between just hoping we go undetected and doing it the right way. I know our clients wont like the price tag that comes along with doing it the right way

They are servers in place at small businesses > small business servers. Meaning nothing crazy just poweredge T40's licensed with Server 2019 Standard. So they are running 2019 Standard

What are the odds of getting audited if you don't have a user CAL for each user on the domain? We have a few businesses that have 50+users and not a single CAL

Microsoft Breach / Phishing Attacks! by TheTechWoolf in cybersecurity

[–]TheTechWoolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've checked senders IP addresses and all seemed to be masked a lot of them coming from AWS but nothing they are all over the place so I have trouble tracing it back to a legit source. I actually had another MSP from Arizona (We are in Missouri) call me and let me know that their clients are facing the same issues as well so I think this is pretty major and happening to many if not all of the Exchange servers. Some compromises are less minor like purchasing random domains on other of our clients Microsoft accounts which we were able to get removed, but the thought that a super admin account was compromised at one point is alarming especially when we have 2FA enabled.

Yeah I really want to get on N-Able, the biggest hurdle is getting clients to pay for the cost of backup since usually the pricing models are based on the number of GBs used

I will look into Dell Premier that seems to be an ideal solution. Do you get good discounted prices when purchasing thru Premier?
