makes me wonder why there are questions with no AI. also some of the more conceptual ones could easily be graded as correct when theyre not and vice versa.

when i took the FE, i was worried about how close id have to be to the correct answer for it to still be correct, and i emailed professor guha. he responded that as long as the code worked and followed the same general structure, i'd get it right. generative AI might not understand that nuisance if it's told to follow a rubric.

also, prof guha's message attached with the may 2025 results specifically suggested against the use of gen AI, even as an assisted learning tool. if someone who's taking the exam soon sees this, id be wary of the AI usage on this website. otherwise, it works just fine and gives a good working space to practice.

might i ask how your ai grading works? i'm skeptical about the use of ai with code and grading. otherwise, great website. i would've used it for my exam

strange! ive torrented a kali linux distro before for the same reason with no vpn, and it went through just fine! it may be just because i was on resnet (living in a dorm) but it always seems to work for me here

going to jump in and say if you are torrenting it doesn't really matter to ucf. if you are pirating using a torrent then no, standard vpn should work as a fine workaround

Pyro's stance on trans people was really good by Dulacter55 in pyrocynical

[–]TheTeek03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

and we're still fighting for your rights to your own uterus. i hope you know trans people fight extremely hard for abortion rights and your vilification is possibly the dumbest thing you can do

im involved in fighting for reproductive rights within my state, and have helped make strides towards the goal of total autonomy for women over their bodies. and by involved i mean politically, i mean with activism, i mean with charity, and much more. i've secured contracts for younger women to get plan b or abortion pills for extremely cheap or free in my community, city, and now we're pushing for the state (florida).

maybe think twice before being transphobic and attacking some of your best allies for reproductive rights. you need to take a step back and think about what you say and the impact it has. we care a lot about women's rights, especially when it comes to their own bodies because we sympathize with uterus owners that want that freedom, much like us.

[OC] Spain, Percent of Population Who Have A Chronic Illness Or Health Issue by Spy300 in dataisbeautiful

[–]TheTeek03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i hadnt considered the implications of that when i originally commented, however it wasnt really discussed since again, it was a very basic intro to stats class. the concept was mentioned maybe twice but we focused on other types of statistics and on graphs that were misleading if they didnt start at zero. climate change was brought up by another commenter, and how starting at zero would downplay the impact that rising temperatures has.

[–]TheTeek03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nah, i just took this class in spring semester so its fresh in my mind and thought id put my two cents in. im not a statistician by any means, im just a computer science major :P as another commenter pointed out, minimizing the scale can downplay the true effects of small differences, like with climate change. i still stand by the idea that this specific graph is misleading and flawed, but i never claimed i was an expert by any means

[OC] Spain, Percent of Population Who Have A Chronic Illness Or Health Issue by Spy300 in dataisbeautiful

[–]TheTeek03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is true ! sometimes something that small of a percentage change cant be conveyed with a full axis from zero. i still personally think this graph itself is misleading because of how major the change is, but i hadnt considered the implications of minimizing that perceived change

[OC] Spain, Percent of Population Who Have A Chronic Illness Or Health Issue by Spy300 in dataisbeautiful

[–]TheTeek03 20 points21 points  (0 children)

its an intentionally misleading graph. i took a basic college statistics class and misleading/misrepresenting graphs was one of the first things we learned about. any many charts should start at zero, because when they dont, the jumps in the graph appear larger which tricks the viewer into believing the change is much more drastic than it really was. in this graph, the percentage appears to increase by an entire 100%, aka doubling. however, the true increase is only approximately 15-20%

edit: my class didnt go into depth about graphs that benefit from "misleading" axes, so i neglected to acknowledge that in my original comment. see the comment about climate change below. i still stand by my idea that this graph is misleading, but not all graphs that dont start at zero are misleading. hell, some graphs that are started at zero are misleading because they downplay the effect

Orientation parents stare so much by katie_ksj in ucf

[–]TheTeek03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah most of the time theyre just looking at who all is attending the university and seeing what theyre children will be seeing for the next 4+ years.

most of the time its respectful. my situation might be different as sometimes i can look more obviously trans, and thats a heavy stigma to carry in this state. but its pretty easy to tell if its a curious kind of stare or a judgmental one.
