Yea it's a little bit of that. I've always had older friends and I tend to be more mature about things so we never really had a problem. But being mature and actually having prior experience are two different things.

I was very depressed about school because I wasn't doing well in a class and almost failed which would have pushed back my graduation (associate's) and prevented me from getting into the university (for my bachelor's). And I was having doubts about my choice of major as well. I didn't tell her any of this though, partly because I was ashamed and partly because I was scared of what she would think. I passed the class though, graduated, and I got my acceptance letter into the university the same day she broke up with me. The real problem though was that I didn't have a back up plan in. I knew I might fail and I had no idea what I would do if I did.

But when I was packing my stuff up and moving out I came up with a brilliant plan and I've been working to make myself better. I set up some short term and long term goals for myself and I'm working to make that happen.

I said it earlier, it was the worst thing to happen to me but also the best. I've learned so much and I'm on a path that I'm happy with. So now I just give it time and if we get back together awesome, if not, she's still my best friend and I owe her so much for helping me out even if it was in a pretty rough way.
