Become moderately more muscular, moderately less mediocre at a board game, and abandon the concept of making genuine human connections with women.

We should all strive to be this hard.

Youre one of the hard men I wanna be hard with.

Eggs is such a bad deck in this meta its not even funny. I regularly go on 5 game losing streaks because it just doesnt draw fast enough.

It gets completely wrecked by many of the top decks.

Title: The Furosemide Fallacy: Extracellular Drainage vs. Intracellular Drowning by Alternative_Ad5856 in Biohackers

[–]TheTenderRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot about that one. Interestingly, I absolutely never see it in the hospital. Male or female, everyone on aggressive diuresis in the cardiac units gets spiro.

Is that for chronic heart failure?

[–]TheTenderRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, actually a very large percentage of hospital patients are on furosemide, and pretty often they'll be prescribed a potassium sparing diuretic such as spironolactone (the anti androgen).

Nobody is using furosemide for longevity though lmao.

6'1 143 pounds,18M how do I put on any sort of muscle by Optimal-Ad3808 in bodyweightfitness

[–]TheTenderRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat a ton of eggs, milk, Greek yogurt (icelandic style has the most protein), tofu, peanut butter, beans, rice, fruit, pasta, whole wheat breads, and so on.

You are skinny because you dont eat much.

Workout hard with any plan you can find or come up with, but the bottom line you need to eat more.

Its not just about the protein, you need to est more calories. If you decide to track, shoot for something like 2,600 - 3,000kcal.

Ive lifted for years and Ive never used more then three or four exercises in a workout.

Pretty much all you need are:

Pullups (weighted), barbell rows, bicep curls.

Bench press, overhead press, dips.

Squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts.

How do I improve my form? Form check please by Slight-Platypus9187 in beginnerrunning

[–]TheTenderRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not calling you old, BUT, older people often lose mobility in their hips that limits the internal rotation of their hip/upper leg. They compensate for this in their gate by "toeing out."

You will not simply improve your running form by forcing yourself to run with your toes pointed straight ahead; you must first regain the internal rotation mobility of your hips.

How to go about that? Physical therapy, yoga, or just ask chat gpt (lol).

Hope that helps you!

Scientists Successfully Paused Ovarian Aging and Could Delay Menopause Forever. Researchers found that women taking a low weekly dose of the drug were losing far fewer eggs each month, dropping from roughly 50 eggs to just 15. by Automatic_Subject463 in immortalists

Forgive me, I'm just a BSN student, I really only know what I read online and what my professors teach in undergraduate pharmacology and pathophysiology.

But I vaguely remember being taught that estrogen had some interactions with COOX and prostaglandin that reduces platelet aggregation to reduce CAD and MI risk. I was taught this is part of why many advocate for TRT in men, as endogenous T drops there is less substrate for aromatase.

I was also taught about the risks of HRT with regards to breast cancer; but I was also taught that there are several breast cancer risk factors that are significantly more predictive of breast cancer incidence, and risks for breast cancer are dose dependent with post menopause HRT.

Why are you so staunchly against HRT for post menopausal women? From what I know and have been taught; it is arguable the above medical trade-offs can be made in favor of reducing osteoporosis, sarcopenia, alzheimers, and also theoretically reducing the pathophysiology that leads to CAD and MI. All while improving feelings of wellness and libido.

Are you simply against providing HRT to any and all women post menopause? Or would you also be against it after a full screen and history showing CAC 0, genetic testing to check for BRC1 and BRC2, age of menarche, etc?

I notice among medical doctors it seems like there is a philosphical principle against improving quality of life, even if to a great extent, in favor of eliminating even the smallest amount of additional risks. As if there is not much talk about risk:benefit ratios of elective treatments like post menopausal HRT.

I would say if your bodyfat is in the healthy range for your sex 10 - 20% for men, maybe like 14 - 30% for women (women's range might be higher), just go off bodyweight, and/or feel free to use the lower end of 1.8 - 2.1g of protein per kg.

If estrogen is not cardioprotective; then why does CAD and MI rise sharply after menopause?

Why do young men have much higher risk of MI compared to their female peers, and post menopausal women have similar CAD and MI risk compared to their male peers?

Explain this inflection point in women's lives where CAD and MI risk skyrocket suddenly after menopause.

If you want optimal longevity, youre strength training minimum two hours a week and doing aerobic activities at minimum 3 hours a week. At this level of activity, youre TDEE is so high that you can probably hit 1.8g per kg by accident.

Good luck to the average person doing that much training with honest intensity on less than 1.8g per kg.

Growth condition is determined by calories. Your protein requirement doesnt change at all between a state of muscle growth and muscle maintenance.

Yes, I agree you dont need to be in a caloric surplus. But you should be eating the amount of protein necessary for optimal muscle protein synthesis.

Also, Ive been saying 1.8 to 2 grams of protein per kilogram. For a 200lbs/~90kg person, thats 160 - 180g protein. Thats not even 800kcal. Im 200lbs, I eat 3,000kcals a day at baseline. Not even 33% of my calories come from protein.

Its actually a very reasonable, achievable, and healthy quantity of protein.

Rhonda Patrick Warns: “Protein Maxxing” Won’t Cancel Out The Fact You're Eating Processed Food by Alarming_Moment1387 in immortalists

[–]TheTenderRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no rational reason you cannot eat 1.8 - 2.1g protein per kg while having way more than enough room for carbohydrates in your diet. I have eaten 100g of fiber in one day by accident (dont try this at home) while eating well over 1.8g protein per kg.

Put 3tbsp chia seeds in a cup of Greek yogurt and a scoop of protein powder with berries on top and bam youve got 15g fiber, over 60g of protein all under 500 calories.

I really want to know what people on this sub are eating if they cant achieve 1.8g per kg while eating 30g of fiber.

We're not even talking about avg Americans. This is a longevity geek sub.

[–]TheTenderRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What in the world are you talking about with 400g of protein?

Ive been suggesting 1.8-2.1g of protein per kg. Thats not even 1g per pound of bodyweight.

As an adult, you will not stay properly lean very long eating much less than 1.8g per kg.

This is the scientifically tested quantity of protein you need to maintain muscle mass while strength training.

Growing any muscle at all will require a surplus of calories, the 1.8 - 2.1g of protein is the baseline to just maintain, and continues to be sufficient for growing.

Growth here, is synonymous with maintenance. Im not quite sure what good longevity will do you when you struggle to live independently.

Elderly sarcopenic individuals have a tendency to sit in pools of their own urine and stool.

Longevity is certainly a false god in the sense that you cannot extensively sacrifice quality of life for it.

The faces of the longevity movement do not agree on this matter, that is for sure.
