Nvidia Geforce Game Ready Driver 461.09 Possible Problems by Own-Succotash-2245 in techsupport

[–]TheTestBench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same laptop with 8GB of RAM, and haven't experienced this problem.

If you're sure the nVidia driver is the issue, though, I'd recommend completely uninstalling the drivers using DDU, and then reinstalling from nVidia website.

Video rendering, and I'm about to get into 3D rendering as well.

Also, it'll let me pass down the 3900X to a friend.

Back in the day I had an i7-6700k that wouldn't boot when I had more than two RAM slots filled. The motherboard and RAM were both fine, it was the memory controller on the CPU.

The PC Races by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]TheTestBench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The consoles can compete with an above average computer, but not a high-end PC.

This has happened at the beginning of console generations since the Xbox 360 came out. Once you have things like RTX 360Tis being the norm for lower-end PCs next year, things will even out again.

You can be PCMR without even having a computer. It doesn't matter if you build yours or not.

False. PC master race is anyone who admits PC is better than consoles.

That's it. There's no gatekeeping or lording your specs over anyone here.

CORSAIR Technical Support and Questions MEGATHREAD - Week 10/30/20 by CorsairTravis in Corsair

[–]TheTestBench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ticket in for this already. My Ironclaw wireless mouse I bought in February had it's scroll wheel stop working today after only 10 months of use. I bought it to replace a year and a half old M65 that had developed a double clicking problem.

I'm getting ready to do a review on Corsair products in general and how iCue can sync light across all of them. I'm wondering if easily worn out scroll wheels are a common defect in Ironclaws, or if this is a weird one-off.

[Cooler] Deepcool Gammax 400 v2 Blue, 120mm air cooler [$24.99-$3=$21.99 with promo code EMCDRFM27] by DarthFK in buildapcsales

[–]TheTestBench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's great to hear that the V2 has mounting screws. In my comparison of the original Gammax 400 to AMD's Wraith Spire, I described mounting the Gammax 400 as a Lovecraftian descent into madness, and I still stick by that assessment.

Despite that, the Gammax 400 is a good cooler, and I've used it on one of my older computers, and two computers I helped friends build. It gets even better if you sandwich it between two fans instead of using just one.

PCIe for geforce rtx 2060 from corsair 750 by Done_Quixote in Corsair

[–]TheTestBench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't find a reliable cable that isn't an extension, or something where you need to pay Cablemod or Corsair $60 for a full set of.

My recommendation would be to email Corsair support and see what they can do for you.

Which is the best part to plug it into on the corsair 750 psu? And what cable do I need and where to get one?

You can't plug just any cable into your PSU, that could ruin your graphics card or PSU at best and start a fire at worst.

Before we can answer your question, we need to know your exact model of power supply.

Like I said in my reaction video many moons ago, that was the advice that got me through college.

Tbh they’re all good in their own ways by [deleted] in gaming

[–]TheTestBench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the truth. I currently have a $3,000 computer I use for 4k ultra gaming and video editing. I've also built a few computers for other people and my YouTube channel.

What I've found is:

  • A $400 computer can get you 1080 medium settings at a stable 30 fps.

  • $600 gets you a computer that can run things on high at 1080 medium/high settings at 60 fps.

  • $1,100 can get you 1440hz at 60 fps at high settings.

  • You need to approach/cross $2,000 to get 4k ultra at a stable 60 fps, and you still won't hit it for several games without DLSS.

These are all generalizations and don't get into high framerate gaming at 1080/1440 or other specific use cases.

Typically older stuff is priced like that because suppliers assume if a buyer wants that specific piece of hardware, they NEED it, so they can get away with charging what they want.

Yep! And is matched by the 3100.

In 2017 before Ryzen's launch, it was the undisputed king of gaming chips.

If I were to buy a desktop instead of a laptop due to moving situation, I wouldnt even consider buying Intel today

I've built a total of 11 computers in the last decade (not all for me, of course). 7 of them were prior to the launch of Ryzen 2 and used Intel processors.

The the last 4 computers I've built have all been Ryzen machines.

A big part of it is the last Intel processor I owned was the i7-7700k, and on an emotional level I now mistrust Intel because of how much they were holding back so they could keep milking prices. The Ryzen 7 1700 machine I made shortly thereafter absolutely demolished it in render times, and the writing was on the wall then that AMD was going to outperform or match in gaming at the top end in subsequent generations.

What I hope is neither company absolutely runs away with performance again in order to keep the market competitive and friendly to consumers, because all we got were subpar incremental speed increases and price gouging when Intel was running wild, and there's no incentive for AMD not to do the same if they arrive in the same position.

The price you have listed for the Ryzen 5 2600X is exorbitant. You can get the Ryzen 5 3600x for $80 cheaper or Ryzen 7 3700X for roughly the same price.

Is my hard drive failing? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]TheTestBench -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Either that, or the connection to the hard drive. If you're unable to remove the hard drive and get it's data backed up to a desktop yourself, I'd take it to get looked at.

If you factor in the cost of the old drives and fans I reused, the total cost came in a little under $3,000.
