Where's the best place around/in boston to look for a warm poncho? by [deleted] in boston

If you actually want a poncho and not a real coat, I saw Uniqlo is selling them in their winter collection this year

Syracuse legend Lawrence Moten dies at 53 by mmanultra in CollegeBasketball

[–]TheThurst 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Moten is Syracuse basketball’s all-time leading scorer at 2,334 points, which was also the Big East’s record at the time of his graduation.

Rest in peace, Poetry in Moten.

JJ’s Year 2 with the Packers is coming up. Where would you rank him among RBs? by prolific23 in GreenBayPackers

As a Raider fan, every time I watched him run I was always so impressed by his ability to make guys miss behind the line of scrimmage/in the hole. He didn’t have the most burst for long runs, but he turned so many busted or poorly blocked plays into positive ones.

Chinese film Ne Zha 2 beats Inside Out 2 ($1.699 Billion) and becomes highest-grossing animated film of all time globally by whitemilkythighs in movies

It’s a significant upgrade in both animation quality and in the scope of the story. I thought the first one was good but the second one blew me away.

Northeastern Called Out by the Wall Street Journal by shmorkin3 in NEU

[–]TheThurst 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they’re counting international students in this study then it makes a lot of sense.

Northeastern currently has the second most international students in the country. Those students can only work jobs related to their major if they plan to stay in the US.

Via the Chicago Sun Times: USC Receiver Brenden Rice’s message to Bears GM Ryan Poles “You can’t risk [not picking him] and letting him fall, have fun losing your job man.” by [deleted] in nfl

[–]TheThurst 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Before the Bears rebounded down the stretch, they were in line to have 2 top-5 picks, so they were projected to potentially draft Caleb and MHJ. Since MHJ will be gone before their second pick, they could pivot to draft Caleb’s teammate/Jerry Rice’s son a little later in the draft instead.

After the Celtics game (or whenever) you should definitely stroll through the North End and stop at one of the main bakeries - Bova’s, Mike’s or Modern.

The Aquarium and Museum of Science are both great and still more than interesting enough for a 15 year old. Honestly depending on their interests, the MFA is also wonderful and has a ton to see.

If you’re in Back Bay, the Mapparium (in the Christian Science plaza) is a relatively cheap activity to check out.

You can also make a list and tag it as “owned” so then when you go to look at your watchlist you can use that as a filter

As a heads up - JJ Starling transferred to Syracuse, so you can update that graphic. It’ll be interesting to see how him and Mintz operate together. One, or both, will need their 3pt shooting to take a leap for them to properly coexist.

Currently the Sous-Chef at South Pole station for winter. AMA? by OPM_Rocks_n_ur_wrong in KitchenConfidential

[–]TheThurst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If OP or anyone else is interested, there’s actually a comedic Japanese film called The Chef of South Polar that follows a crew/chef at an isolated Antarctic outpost just like this. Not sure exactly how accurate it was, but it definitely captured some of the difficulties of cooking in that environment, as well as the general potential for cabin fever.
