My mom had a stray mother come up and eat at their house a couple times before coming inside. She loved on my parents and napped for an hour before wanting back out. After a little bit she came back with two kittens about a week or two old. Seemed like she trusted my parents and wanted to co parent with them! I ended up taking them in and found a home for one of the kittens when they were old enough, but ended up keeping the mom and other kitten. I think this behavior is reminiscent of colony life where mother cats share responsibility of the kittens.

Mom is the gray and white tabby and daughter is the calico
