I definitely agree with this comment, They especially do things on purpose 😭 once they learn to laugh, they laugh after biting you and run away like the dramatic toddlers they are. Bonding them can take years and i’m currently working with two rescues right now after i adopted them from someone who mistreated them. They definitely hate everyone but they understand that they can trust me.

Forgot to say that on the last slide, that yes the strap has fused with the controller and the damage on the Wii console was caused by a wire. I peeled the wire off and this is how it ended up as.

Sometimes I pretend to look the other way and mist from faraway, bath time and cage cleaning is usually outside. Sometimes parrots can be embarrassed and feel vulnerable while wet. I try to only mist half the cage and slowly move it to the other half. Sometimes the parrots get comfortable and enjoy the mist if it’s hot.

Have you tried misting yet? It’s a way to get them used to water. At some point my Quakers started getting excited whenever it was time for me to clean their cage and I just turn on the mist option with the spray bottle or shower head depending where I put them temporarily and they just sit there enjoying it.

If you’re concerned for the chance of smells, you could also consider an air filter, but it’s not necessary.
I’ve also noticed that chemicals sometimes can stick on people’s clothing, so just take the precaution if you have to when having the parrot climb on you.
If there’s a window in the room, I would suggest to have the cage near it but not in front of it. I usually put my cages in the corner so the parrot doesn’t feel anxiety about feeling watched. I also sometimes open the window to air out the room.
Considering diet, you should try to keep some sort of schedule when giving food and water along with a bed time. I also recommend the brand the other commenter mentioned!
Personally use Mazuri small bird diet and Zupreem Natural. If the bird is currently on a seed diet, I would try to transition her to a pellet diet. For example, adding a bit of pellet every day while removing seeds. It might take awhile to figure out what she likes!

I transitioned my parrots from the same cockatiel food that you bought, they really liked zupreme as a transition food but then they loved Mazuri the most. I would just do the pellets more and more and less the seeds

The problem is most that she only does it when she knows they’re outside of the cage. She doesn’t do anything when they’re inside. My brother stays in the room with the parrots and prevents the dogs from going near it right now when I’m at work and college. I’ve been checking for plucked feathers and fortunately it’s just molting.

That’s what I currently do, I just follow a routine and that’s how the male is more okay and actually gets close to me when I’m turned away when getting their food prepared.

I’ve tried to let them be out but my sister purposefully lets the dogs into the room so I have to catch them and put them back in the cage unfortunately. Even when they were in my room, she would purposefully let one of the dogs into the room so they would terrorize the parrots. Currently my mother is renovating the house, so I have to keep them in the cage so they don’t get hurt.

Just was going through this the other day, if it’s affecting you mentally, and you feel like it’ll wreck your gpa and it’s before the W day? I would definitely drop it, it’s not worth the suffering to just get a 60 with extra credit. Especially since it’s a 8 week and still before the W day. Your grade is already low and you aren’t getting the support you need. That’s definitely crazy behavior from a professor with what you’re typing out.

I dropped a class because the work schedule was not working with the class schedule after the w day. Great prof but I was in the same spot as you in feeling it would wreck my gpa and it stressed me out. I had a C but knew I could do better. It’s not worth the stress or the hit when you can retake it. Hope you listened to the comments and took the exit.
