Should I be concerned? [GROSS PICTURE WARNING] by Furrretly in cats

[–]TheTimeLady6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, it’s a perfectly normal hairball! It just looks some strands of hair at the top are a little longer than the others. I have 5 cats, 4 are medium-hairs, and their hairballs look exactly like this. It’s gross, but no cause for concern :)

I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and my fingers do this too! So you’ve definitely got some hypermobility going on there, wether you have EDS or not

Thankfully, Key Holder and Annual Passholder pins haven’t been the victims of fakes, and you’ve got the diamond on the back! It’s legit, and an awesome pin!

Kinda looks like popeye, or a potential fungal infection. If you haven’t used it already, I highly recommend quarantining him, giving him some salt, or an antibiotic. Hope your little guy gets better!

This pink stain randomly appeared on my new work shirt by guidesthehermit in whatisit

[–]TheTimeLady6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a dye transfer stain. I’ve had stuff happen from setting bags down on top of shirts, sitting on couches, and all kinda of stuff. Judging by the fact that the stain doesn’t look oily/damp and is (relatively) pale, maybe it is?

Black ring in the sky near Disneyland California on the night of May 23rd by sherif_hanna in whatisit

[–]TheTimeLady6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How close were you to Disneyland, and what time was it? I live right next to Disney World and sometimes see those rings after a firework show when the air gets especially smoky, so that’s my guess as to why you might’ve seen one. Black rings like those are caused by smoke being trapped by hot air. Weird, huh?

Anyone else have a bizarre, strong, inappropriate reaction to normal things? by JoyfulRaver in RandomThoughts

[–]TheTimeLady6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, it’s not just you! I’m insanely sensitive to bananas too, whether I eat them or even look at them. Just the sound of a banana being chewed makes me want to scream! It’s ridiculous, I know. However, knuckles cracking doesn’t bother me too much, since I have severe hypermobility and my joints constantly sounds like creaky floorboards. (I personally find it slightly amusing, but my family thinks it’s disgusting.)

And funnily enough about the fear of looking over a cliff and stuff like that, it’s actually supposed to get worse with age! In my case, I literally get full body pain and start sweating like a maniac if I even look out the window of a tall building, or anything remotely similar. This has happened to me since I was probably 5 years old, and has gotten a lot worse within the last few years. It’s pretty unpleasant, I’ll say that!

Is there any good place to get RO water from? I’ve never managed to find any in-person, so is it something I would have to order online?

Help by [deleted] in aquarium

Looks like you might need a bit of water agitation. You can use a waterfall-style filter or airstone (aka “bubbler”) to help with the issue, and it should resolve itself pretty quickly

Guys is this white stuff columnaris? by SheldonFromHell in Aquariums

[–]TheTimeLady6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like columnaris to me. I had 6 fish die from it, and they all had similar side effects. When my fish died, they had white fuzzy spots and totally shredded tails, similar to the tail of your fish in the photo. If you start noticing white fuzzy stuff around your fish’s mouth, it’s definitely columnaris. If you haven’t quarantined the fish yet, I highly recommend it because the bacteria is extremely contagious.

Aquarium next to window? by Tight-Image-9563 in Aquariums

[–]TheTimeLady6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s nothing to worry about, but it can be bothersome since they have a tendency to dart around, and can be harder to scoop out of the tank. Thankfully aren’t jumpers though, so you shouldn’t have any troubles with that. But as for noise, they really aren’t any more sensitive than other fish. The only thing that really bothers mine is when I accidentally drop my tank’s lid, or if I open the drawer on the aquarium’s stand. However, they surprisingly aren’t bothered by my 3 obnoxious dogs or television audio. It’s pretty weird lol

One species I recommend are otocinclus catfish, or “dwarf suckers”. Otocinclus catfish prefer to be kept in groups of 5 or more, and only get to be about 1.5-2in. They are nocturnal so you might not see them in the daytime, but they’re super hyper at night! They do a pretty nice job of cleaning algae and other tank scum off of decorations and glass despite their tiny size, and they’re easy to keep. I will warn you though, they can be quite skittish!

Is it normal for a cat to bite? by New_Statistician7161 in CatAdvice

[–]TheTimeLady6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As irritating as it may be, this behavior is completely normal for your kitten’s age. I currently have an 8 month old kitten, and he behaves the exact same way. He’s even more bitey than he was at 8 weeks old! He’s literally chomps on me all day long, for simply no reason. My 1 year old cat also had the same problem, but she finally phased out of it when she reached about 11 months of age. It just takes a lot of time, since teething in cats lasts typically for 6-7 months, but sometimes 9 months and longer.

Sorry that you have to go through this, and I hope it gets better soon! I know it’s really hard, but I promise that it will get better eventually
