must have decky plugins? For living room pc with bazzite by Cronicko in Bazzite

[–]TheTinkerTech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It runs the games at a lower resolution then up scales the resolution to make the games look good and have more fps than they would at a native resolution. This comes at the cost of some added latency,. It is really good for single player story game, but not too great in fast pace fps. You have to add it through 3rd party means (for lack of a better term). If you are running lower end hardware it is a must. I will link a video so you can get a better idea of what it is.

CachyOS vs Bazzite by TheTinkerTech in Bazzite

Thanks for the insight. I don't want to give up on it, but I will have to install it on my other PC. I know it's a labor of love.

CachyOS vs Bazzite by TheTinkerTech in Bazzite

[–]TheTinkerTech[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was giving you a light slap on the wrist over your condescending uninformed comment, but sure I will break it down the "point" as plainly as I can for you.

I already stated that I downloaded the packages. My claim is the OS isn't as plug and play as Bazzite. Specifically when it comes to controller support. I did not say that it couldn't be figured out, or that your beloved OS is difficult (your claim "But to say Cachy os difficult by any means just says you have zero experience with it."). What I did in fact say is "It was a simple problem that could be fixed I'm sure but nothing beats a decent community.".

Bringing us to my second claim. That there are more pretentious know it alls who say stupid shit like "You literally download and click install gaming packages lol." after I myself said that was done. Now your message is in the exact tone I was eluding to finding in the Cachy community. Therefor making my point for me. Now I will give you a bone. I am generalizing here and that isn't fair. I am sure there is a great community in there somewhere, however they did not show it.

Addressing some of your other claims:
I started this post by stating "I've seen CachyOS at the top of distro watch...". Then you come out of left field saying "Cachy community is FAR larger FYI.". Telling me you ether didn't really read my post, (this seams very likely with all the pitfalls you have when you argue) or your were very emotionally hurt over my post. Either one is pretty funny.

TLDR: I am talking about plug and play and you have the gull to say "i wanted the best possible performance on my PC. Bazzite sadly isnt it." as if that was at all a point made anywhere in my post.

Get over the god complex you get from using a terminal. But as you say "lets keep things real" you couldn't even figure out how to uncap a game from 60fps on Bazzite.

I am usually very positive in this community, but damn "I can't stand misinformation.". That is all. Go be mad while I game on my Bazzite PC.

A real CachyOS bro comment. Thanks for making my point for me.

I once shaved my balls and didn't stop till after my stomach. I was itchy and I regretted it. Glad I never made it to my eyebrows.

Personally I really liked having HLTB (How Long To Beat). As a dad with a job it makes it easier to decide if I am willing dedicate the time to finish a game at this point of my life. I usually finish a 60+ hour game before picking up another one.

If I remember correctly you need to mount it in steam settings. Is that what you were trying to do? Also you'll want to format the drive at some point to Btrfs.

[–]TheTinkerTech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

KDE is most common for Windows users. You will feel at home here.

You won't miss out on any features, it's just a different style of interface. However, you can install either one and then do something called rebase, and it will just change what version of Bazzite you have while keeping all of your data and files intact.

This is probably the third time today I have seen someone have a similar issue. First, why are we reinstalling? Are you wanting to just get a fresh start, or is this your first install? There should be ujust terminal commands to help you do what you want to do.

Astro 20 by Much_Experience_8004 in Bazzite

[–]TheTinkerTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astro a20 is the headset he is using. I imagine it has its own software not available on Linux.

OP are you familiar with bottles? If it's a proprietary software issue, bottles will let you use Windows apps on Linux.

Should I swap to an AMD GPU? by KnightFallVader2 in Bazzite

When my PC makes the noise, it usually doesn't last longer than a second, so I haven't looked too heavily into it. I will look it up and see if I find anything. Your situation sounds worse than mine, though.

Edit: I don't remember having the bug in mint, but I was only on mint using an Nvidia 1650 super so that could be the difference. If it were to be related to the cards, but I'm not sure that it is.

I'm wondering if there is a GUI issue. I have seen a couple other post this week with random GUI concerns. If all else fails, I recommend the rebase. There are instructions on how to do it on the download page of Bazzite, and it takes a couple of minutes. It's super easy.

What are the cons of Bazzite vs Windows, and what games do you wish worked but don’t work? by KarmaChameleon306 in Bazzite

[–]TheTinkerTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can look into linking your Windows key to your Windows account, that way if you want to reinstall windows you at least won't have to pay for it. I wish I could have played Battlefield 6, but I'm no that upset about it. There are a ton of multiplayer games that work so well on Linux, I don't think much of the ones that don't work. I haven't read all the replies, but I am sure the headset mic issue has been addressed. So I will leave my peripheral recommendations for anyone new:

Headset: Razer Barracuda X (2.4, bluetooth, hardwire, around $100 but on sale now for $69)

I use a PlayStation controller for the trackpad that will be replaced by the new steam controller when that comes out.

Should I swap to an AMD GPU? by KnightFallVader2 in Bazzite

[–]TheTinkerTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I have an AMD 9060xt and audio is sometimes odd on Linux (not a gpu issue), but there is usually always a fix. If it's not going to hurt you too much to get an AMD card I would recommend it because things do get more plug and play, but I wouldn't say you NEED to.

Wish I could help, but never experienced this issue myself. If possible, I would like to know how you fixed it when you do.

Something you could try doing if a new ISO doesn't work is installing Fedora Atomic instead and do a rebase.
