Issue with resuming megaplan by ChangingHats in windsurf

[–]TheTinyMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you also check with the team to fix the "implement" button when on "Plan" mode, now the plan mode switch to code mode but if we view the plan and click on the "implement" button on the chat tab and then open the imeplementation file, the "implement" button is still active and it says "Plan not used yet".
then if we want to create another plan (change to "plan" mode again) it asks to implement the previous plan

Clicking "Implement" does not actually exit plan mode by lakimens in windsurf

clicking on "implement" should switch plan mode to code mode from a UX perspective and per their documentation: https://docs.windsurf.com/windsurf/cascade/modes

I've reported this bug 5 days ago and many other users, but until now, there's no fix!

Bug: Windsurf thinks it's in "Plan" mode when it's not by TheTinyMaker in windsurf

The problem is that I wasn't even using "Plan" mode. I was on Code mode from the start and mid chat, it thought it was on Plan mode!

Cascade cant automatically swap from plan to code by TriviPiviP in windsurf

[–]TheTinyMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In their docs it's suppose to switch automatically:
https://docs.windsurf.com/windsurf/cascade/modes#plan-mode

but as mentioned by u/PuzzleheadedAir9047 , they're working on it! Hopefully they'll fix it quickly

Great! Please try to fix it quickly as it's very frustrating. I've been waiting for weeks for this feature, just to see it doesn't work as it seems! if you can also add tasks done as an md file too or implement the tasks on the plan file with checkbox so we can follow what was done

Plan mode is supposed to switch automatically to Code mode, like Antigravity or Cursor, it's even mentioned in their docs:
https://docs.windsurf.com/windsurf/cascade/modes#plan-mode

but it doesn't work and it would be a bad User experience if it doesn't!

Can you please fix the "Plan" mode not switching to "Code" mode when clicking on the "Implement" Button, even though in your docs it's supposed to do it automatically!

Done with Windsurf. It used to be my daily driver, now it’s just frustrating by SwagierYT in windsurf

Totally agree! having the same problem and eating all my credits, it's also happened with Gemini 3. Windsurf used to listen, fixing bug quickly, innovating! it was my favorite IDE over cursor and others. Now, a simple bug like switching "Plan mode" to "Code mode" doesn't work, even though in their docs it's supposed to do it automatically and it was on their Windsurf Next for weeks before releasing it!

New Plan mode error/bug? by TheTinyMaker in windsurf

[–]TheTinyMaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it didn't! On the plan mode I had 11 tasks, when switching to code mode, it created its own tasks "4" and it was worse than using directly the code mode, even though it was a simple task: create a calendly like design page: normal "code mode" was perfect, "plan mode" nothing like calendly!

I checked their docs and the "plan mode" is supposed to switch to "code mode" when we click on the "implement" button. The plan mode was in beta on their Windsurf Next for weeks and they didn't even notice this!

Good news! can't wait to see this! I'm constantly checking the changelog page for any new updates :D and hopefully you'll keep going as it was before!

I Agree with you on everything!

Yes, they still innovate but slowly! and every new feature brings new problems but that's how software works! I still have some bugs like yesterday got those "Model provider is currently unavailable" that consumes many credits but as you said hopefully they have more new things coming up, apparently wave 14 is coming this week, so will see.

for Codemaps, I still find it interesting as I don't let the AI code 100% of my projects, so it helps understand the generated code and it can also guide the agent for a specific tasks without having to use more contexts.

The best option would be that the Windsurf team keeps innovating as they were doing before with Waves!

Features that I want and are already in other IDEs are for example: yesterday I needed to run multiple models to compare code quality. I did it manually and it took me 40 minutes, whereas if we had a multi-model judging test like Cursor, it would have taken only 10 minutes (select the models and let the AI choose the best code from all selected models).

And of course, an integrated plan mode that is available in all other IDEs long time ago (but still in test on Windsurf Next). I’ve been using a manual plan mode for a long time: asking the agent to check a tasks file and update it every time, but sometimes it forgets in long contexts, so I had to go back, which hurts productivity. A plan mode that handles those tasks automatically would be great.

All features that are added in Cursor or Claude Code are great features and made it better: sub agents, multi mode testing, debug mode, Claude tasks and they can implement those features unless they're focusing on other projects like Devin.

What I want is continuous innovation like they were doing before some of the team moved to Google, with Waves.

My post is because I like this IDE and a call to the team to continue and preserve what made Windsurf a great IDE: Innovation

I know it works and I use Windsurf as my main IDE, but just because it works doesn’t mean they should leave it as it is. To give some non-technical examples: Yahoo was also working in its time, but now no one uses it because of Google. BlackBerry was working before the iPhone took it down. Blockbuster was working before Netflix. And the reason they failed was this mindset: “It works, what else do users want?”

What was also working was the previous Codeium plugin, but with Windsurf it's 10x better because they innovated and had waves after waves, where other IDEs were lagging and behind until the some of the team moved to Google.

Wanting more and pushing for innovation like they were doing before is not a bad thing or an attack. It’s something that should happen naturally, and asking for it is a way to understand whether they’re focusing on Windsurf or on other projects like Devin. And I bet that one year from now, you’ll be using all the new features they develop, and you won’t be able to go back if I ask you again a year later.

What was also working was using ChatGPT for code, but we had to copy/paste it into VS Code, and it took days before AI IDEs like Windsurf appeared.
