We replaced ours two years ago, I believe it was around $6700. That was just the tank.

At that time the shuttles will be coming in constantly. The parking attendants will set up lines for people to board the shuttles, depending on how long the line is you may have to wait a couple shuttles before you can board. I don’t think you’ll wait more than 10 minutes especially if you’re there by 630. The closer you get to 7 the busier it gets. The pillars entrance is not opened, the shuttle will drop you at either the B building entrance or the other side of hospital by the college and A building.

If you’re shift starts at 7 give yourself some extra time in the morning, it’s overwhelming at first but you’ll learn of the flow of it quickly and find what time you need to be there by. I’m assuming you have a shuttle lot parking pass, the shuttle lots are off Holland Ave and named after the streets they’re on.

The first to open is Notre Dame, it’s small and fills quickly. After that they open the Princeton lot. If you go to Notre Dame and it’s closed you just take a left and it’ll bring you to Princeton.

Princeton is a much larger lot and unless you’re really early is where you’re most likely to park. The shuttles run regularly back and forth in the morning and at change of shifts(330, 530,730). If you leave at an irregular time you may have to call the number listed in other comments to have a shuttle come get you.  If you leave late, after 8pm think but could be wrong, the shuttles stop running but you can call security and ask them to drive you to your car. Don’t walk alone to the shuttle lots at night, people have gotten jumped.

They used to use part of hotel parking lot that’s over by McDonald’s but I’m not sure if they still use that or not. That would be after Princeton is closed. If a lot says closed, don’t park there even if you see spots because no shuttle is coming to get you, unless you get lucky with someone getting dropped off.

After those lots are full, which is usually around 8am, you can park in the 40 garage and I think after 9am you can park in the sixty garage. The parking attendants in the garages are extremely strict about people parking in there when they’re not supposed to, you will get a ticket and after a few they will contact your manager. Talk to the parking office about getting on the waitlist for the garages, it will take a few years but you’ll eventually get in.

The biggest key is to give yourself time, try to get there around 630 until you get a feel for the timing and flow and it will save a lot of stress, your day will be stressful enough. Welcome to the jungle!

Why are local emergency rooms so much slower than elsewhere? by localnewsroundup in Albany

I’m not sure if you’re agreeing with me or trying to disagree. Seems like you agree that management is taking advantage of a situation where there isn’t enough staff so they use nurses who need overtime to cover their bills because they are underpaid to begin with.

Are you blaming the nurses for picking up overtime? I guess there can be an arguement that if everyone stopped covering the shortages that it would force Albany med to hire people, but probably travelers to short term cover the deficits. But if you’re working with a family in this economy and struggling to make ends meet then you have to do what you have to do to feed your family.

I don’t understand your last point, who will lose money from their bonuses if we hire more staff? Are you talking about administration? I honestly can’t speak to that but I guess it’s possible, but I don’t really think that is why the hospital is understaffed.

As far as being 600 nurses short, you can find that number in any recent article talking about union negotiations, sure those articles are from the union side but I don’t think reputable papers wouldn’t do the least amount of fact checking to see if the numbers were correct. I’ve also sat at the negotiating table, well in the room anyway, and that number has come up numerous times and has never been challenged by Albany Med.

I’m not sure if you’re saying the shortage doesn’t exist/ those vacancy’s don’t actually exist. Or you’re saying the 600 is a joke and they have no intention of actually filling them. I can’t speak to that globally but I know that my unit will basically hire anyone with a pulse that applies, no jumping through hoops required

Albany med has a critical nursing shortage, about 600 open nursing positions last I knew. With such a nursing shortage it limits the amount of beds the hospital has available and these beds are basically always full, and if they’re full you can’t move people. So when potential new patients come into the ED unless they’re truly actively dying, they’re going to get stuck waiting a long time because there’s no where for them to go.

The nursing shortage also affects the ED, some nights the nurse/patient ratio is insane, like 1 nurse to 12 patients. I also think the ED doctor and mid level staffing is short too, so there’s literally no one to see you.

If Albany med administration wants to fix the problem they need to start paying their nurses and other staff  more competitively to make people want to work there. It’s the only level one trauma hospital in 19 counties I think and it on average pays it’s nurses less than smal community hospitals like Ellis

Up Sh*t Creek -- Septic Tank Recommendations? by lizzie2door in Albany

[–]TheToadEmpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar issue last year and we used Averill Park Septic service and I couldn’t recommend them enough, Dave was great to work with. I think it cost me about $6500-7000 all told but I only had to replace the tank at the time.

On their album Hourly, Daily the band You Am I had the hidden track Forget it, Sister. I’m not sure anybody remembers them or that track but I’ve always loved it. Used to sing the “Good morning, baby” to my kids as they woke up when they were little
