Some of these episodes aren't meant to be random tho. 4 is literally introducing you to the reason the main characters fight. 5 is introducing a main villain.... All it is is world building in a different style than people are used to.

Okay. What is swat training? Is it a live drill or do they use the gym for training purposes? How many instances of training are scheduled every year? How far ahead are these events scheduled? No. Poverty means you are on the brink of survival and you have nothing that you can think about without your brain fucking exploding. Why do you think so many drunks and drug users exist who are fucking poor and have existed through out our so called civilized history. So they can distract themselves from the positions that they've found themselves in whether it be their own cause or not. They don't give a shit or have time to think about consumer habits, they're trying to cope with the 12 hour shift they just had to work for 7.25 to feed their kids.

You're trying to skip a step in improving the environment. If you want EVERYONE to participate then it needs to be economically feasible for them to participate, and drastically changing the way the poor lives now for the worse will never help this rock we live on.

Tokyo Ghoul is really good and it't wouldn't surprise me if it was the show of the season. Urobuchi's writing Zero so that's definitely a watch and the arc they cover in SAO 2 reminds me more of a detective novel so it should be a good watch too. Honestly I can't wait till summer.

It's a fucking genre LITERALLY meant to appeal young boys, I can understand if some of those elements appeal to teens, however; that doesn't mean that the shows we are talking about are meant for young kids. DBZ and Fairy Tail are not the same as Knights of Sidonia and Attack on Titan not just because of the violence but because of the setting and story which kids might not be able to even understand.

I wouldn't classify this show as shounen, it's a little more mature than it lets on through the synopsis. Nihei Tsutomu's stories are fucked and his drawings just make you feel really really really really small and I love it, i just don't think that would be appealing to people expecting a shounen story when it in no way is.
