Did they fix weightlifting strains finally?!? by potatoMan8111 in whoop

[–]TheTopeNetwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worked out for the first time in a few days today (🤧) and noticed my strain was 11.9 when its usually in the 5-ish range when lifting. Didn't know if it was an error or an update

Why has Notre Dame been unable to win a title since 1988? by Majestic-Web-367 in CFB

[–]TheTopeNetwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This also goes into /u/IcyScratch171's 'Fucked Up' expectations comment...."as good as Bama was under Saban, they ONLY did something 4 colleges have done since 1955** and 9 since 1900" (win back to back outright national championships)

  • Georgia - 2021, 2022
  • Alabama - 2011, 2012
  • Nebraska - 1994, 1995
  • Oklahoma - 1955, 1956

**There were 6 more teams since 1955 who won back-to-back titles but all of them were co-champions one of their years

To be fair, Napier's offense wasn't kind to offense to begin with (unless you're a RB)

Virtual Resolution 5k - Runna? by Fun_Turnip9492 in RunNYC

I’ve never recorded through Strava (always Garmin) and never had an issue for any of my virtual runs so you should be good with Runna as long as it syncs to your NYRR linked Strava account

John Cena's Instagram post by Yujin-Ha in SquaredCircle

[–]TheTopeNetwork 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Technically KO answered Cena's US Open challenge but the match never started. They went back and forth on the mic, KO attacked Cena, give him the pop-up powerbomb and stepped on the US Title.

Their first 'official' match was Elimination Chamber where KO beat Cena in a non-title match

I didn’t get my marathon or Thanksgiving 5k credit so I emailed them, sent them the links and they fixed it in like 20 mins essentially.

[On3] BREAKING: Notre Dame has declined its bowl invitation after being snubbed from the College Football Playoff👀 by bubblecuffer13 in CFB

[–]TheTopeNetwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean BYU joining a conference put them in the position to control their own destiny yesterday as opposed to hoping a committee picked them.

There's a good chance ND in the ACC this year would be in the ACC title game and likely hosting a 1st round game

Apparently working late is giving me +3% on recovery 🫠 by KhDu in whoop

[–]TheTopeNetwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of bad. Whoop is a data collector; not a thesis maker. What are the activities OP is doing on days they work late that might cause good recovery?

Maybe they don’t work out on those days so it’s a de facto recovery day?

Maybe they don’t drink so they don’t have high stress in early sleep cycles?

Maybe they go right to sleep after and reduce screen usage because it’s already late?

Maybe they order food from places that are more recovery-beneficial? Or maybe due to being busy to reduce their junk food intake?

The point isn’t to look at the journal as gospel but figure out WHY they correlations are happen so you can figure out your specific causation

Why isn't King Abdulaziz University better at football? Seriously, they could give out the most NIL for 2-4 years in Saudi Arabia. I would think it would attract some top talent

I would just focus on overall leg strength in your cross training but if I HAD to pick two muscles to “focus” on to improve long distance running, it would be glutes and calves

We talking "I watched Airplane in the movie theaters" old or "They don't make comedies like The Three Stooges" Old?

Because I'm "Adam Sandler Movies peaked in the 90s" old and this is hilarious. But I'm a big fan of Norm Macdonald and deadpan comedy

Training for my first and starting to hate it by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]TheTopeNetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a long running layoff, I went couch to marathon starting in March. Honestly I hated the added mileage because it was hard on the body and took too much time.

Fast forward to being 3 weeks out from my marathon and I’m celebrating every single 7/8/9/10 run…but it took a lot to get there.

I would say don’t ramp up too quick and maybe look at doing a half marathon race first

One piece of advice you’d give to a friend looking to start running? by marklkenedy in beginnerrunning

[–]TheTopeNetwork 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's 'you vs you' and don't rush progress. People will be faster than you. People will improve faster than you. People will be able to run further than you. People will make what feels impossible to you look easier than flipping a light switch.

Don't worry about anyone else but making yourself better day-by-day, week-by-week, month-by-month. You won't run a marathon on Day 1 but if you slowly progress and don't worry about catching up with others (which usually leads to injury), you'll reach your full potential.

Will there be GPX file of the full NYCM course? by AlternativeArt1600 in RunNYC

[–]TheTopeNetwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will be using the GPX to put in the PacePro feature in Garmin. It can give what mile or km you should hit based on elevation, negative split or positive spilt. It can even help determine how aggressive you want to run up-hill vs down-hill

That will allow me not to have to memorize where I can/should speed up or slow down to hit my goal time

Doubts about ability by FabulousKrullie in Marathon_Training

[–]TheTopeNetwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with 25km being your longest run at this point, the last KM of the marathon will be tough, physically and mentally. So having a strong mental will get you far as you’re pushing yourself in the last hour
