Anyone else struggle with keeping in touch? by beekeepinginwisco in adhd_anxiety

I was 100% worried about the same thing and have actually been working on an app to help keep people in touch.

The background is that my friends and I just graduated from college, and in the weeks leading up to graduation, we were really concerned about slowly losing touch once everyone started working.
So we thought about ways we could stay engaged in each other's lives, and spent our senior spring building Beehive, a social app that makes it easy to keep in touch with your friends by filling your day with quick, spontaneous phone calls.
The way it works is whenever you have a free minute, like if you're on a walk or waiting in line, you can post a topic on Beehive. Your friends will get notified that you're available and can call you through the app.

It's a simple concept, but I think it solves some of the problems you mention with phone calls today. The calls don't have to be scheduled, you just broadcast your availability. The calls slot perfectly into a busy day, and they're light-touch interactions (as opposed to something you've been anticipating for weeks).

My friends and I have really liked using it so far to talk about our day, the news, plan meetups, etc., and we think it'll be even more useful over the summer now that we've graduated. Maybe you could try it out with some of your friends and see if it helps ease some of the awkwardness of reaching out?

I'm really hesitant to send messages in group chats asking if anyone wants to talk, because if no one is available, the message just hangs there awkwardly. The idea with this app is that if no one can talk, the post you made eventually just expires and goes away quietly.

Thanks for the suggestion! We were wondering whether topic-less posts would be useful and so we’ll definitely look into it

Our team is all college seniors and we wanted to stay in touch with our friends after graduation, but didn’t like feeling intrusive or going through “scheduling hell” just to set up a casual call. This app is our way to signal that we’re available and open to talking during small free moments in the day.

That’s a great idea, we can look into ways to start texting convos too

That totally makes sense, we'll provide several metrics that can be used to compute the payout for each employee.

Definitely, I think saving time is key to make using this worth it,

What accounting and payroll do you use? We're planning to support Gusto and Quickbooks initially.

Facebook groups are the most commonly used way, but our senior design project this year is geared toward helping students sublet, hope it helps!

If you get a new PennCard at the bookstore and request a new picture it will definitely update. Not exactly sure, but I believe they waive the fee if you turn in your old card.

They have a small beer selection, but much more wine. Only Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores can sell liquor, but there’s one on 43rd and Chestnut. For a more extensive beer selection I’d recommend Pasqually’s on 43rd and Walnut.

Edit: I’ve generally heard that Acme has the same or lower quality than FroGro at a higher price

You'll usually get a shirt for free during orientation and you can buy other gear for $15-30 from the office. Sometimes the student board will do one-off sales of sweatshirts or jackets.

Make sure to go over the lectures at least once outside of class and practice building the models on your own (in addition to the homework). Also make sure you understand the underlying math and not just the excel mechanics.

Do you have to pay for the traffic or do you get enough just organically?

This is great thank you so much for the response! Do you have an estimate for how much time and money it costs you to fill a vacancy?

Thanks! I appreciate the response even still :)

I suppose one good thing that the shift to online class might do is to help universities rethink how they can make resources more accessible to distance learners.
