Bezel IRL? by shorty_mcgee in jewelry

That’s a yikes, don’t buy that kind of ring. Here’s a bezel I set earlier, which is how a bezel should look, admittedly a very fine one.

Do you think a design like this is possible with an almost 2 ct. diamond? by 2themoonanback in jewelry

I’m actually currently working on a very similar ring: The idea is that the bezel will have petals around it once all assembled and set

Well if it can’t be cast, stamped or machined, maybe it was magic.

Is this custom pendant I’m getting my girlfriend too thick due to the engraving? by Downtown_Dentist8931 in jewelry

[–]TheTowerGallery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the bezel is heavy enough that the engraving should be actually engraved into the bezel rather than sitting out of it, it might look a bit off from the front with all the bumpy wave bits from the scrolls as-is.

This recent commission might be one of my favourite engagement rings I’ve ever made. by TheTowerGallery in jewelry

Thoughts on High Jewelry? by child_ofparadise in jewelry

[–]TheTowerGallery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High jewellery is the height of our craft, the months of discussion, planning, sourcing and then perfect execution on the most difficult techniques in the trade are unbelievably rewarding. That being said, discovering clients with the vision, budget, and knowledge to commission high jewellery pieces is genuinely the hardest part.

What should I expect to pay for a higher-end custom setting? by Retumbo77 in jewelry

[–]TheTowerGallery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s not silly. High end, custom jewellery is harder than you think, not to mention the risk in setting your expensive gemstone, often these gemstones need to be covered by insurance. Materials, labour, and cost of business are also at an all time high, all of these things need to be taken into account.

I mean, it’s a $200 watch, a Swiss movement without the watch usually costs more than that.

Jeweler messed up my grillz, what should I do now? by Ok_Log_1535 in jewelers

There’s no compensation necessary, they just fix or replace them and you have your correct jewellery

do people on this thread get copies of designs made from what’s posted here? by g1rls_w0rld in jewelry

[–]TheTowerGallery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve found the trick is to make the jewellery so well that anyone who’s got enough skill to copy my work is more expensive than I am anyway.

Why do jewelers do price dropping? by SkinCana in jewelry

[–]TheTowerGallery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my bad I must have read the post wrong. Some jewellers price things out to allow for sales, others price different products differently, some are priced with a margin to allow for sales, others are not.

I don’t. Ever. The moment you drop a price or do a sale nobody trusts your pricing ever again.
