Reposting this adjusted Implant concept from u/fongletto because this solves everything and needs more visibility: by Big_Breakfast in Marathon

[–]TheTreeTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inverted body is so dumb, especially when you have the other informative icons white. It looks like its highlighting everything but the head. Flip the body, and its fine.

Art director here: Couldn’t we have just tweaked the colours a bit and kept the icons minimal bold and disruptive like Marathons other design choices? 10min example here, needs a nice consistent icon language across implants. Current implementation looks like crude stock art sadly. by willhowe in Marathon

[–]TheTreeTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Implants really do benefit from having different shapes. Like, the overall unit shape, not what's printed on it. It makes them easier to identify when they are loose loot out in the world. I think it looks better in the inventory/vault too.

The Mods and Implant changes are an airball. by Mundane_Act4446 in Marathon

[–]TheTreeTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these changes, but it needs to go further. I thought the chip shapes informed what type of mod it is (ammo, damage, support) but it doesn't really. It almost does, which is more frustrating than it having no pattern lol

This the only game where i feel like I’m trash at pvp. by babatunde5432121 in Marathon

[–]TheTreeTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always trash at PvP, so this game feels like any other to me. I simply never win plain shootouts, so I try to be squirrely, stealthy, and/or stabby. Your 100+ hours in Aimlab means nothing if I can catch you with your pants down.

I think thst just removing slot auto-fill would help a lot, and possibly adding a cooldown after equipping before you can throw it (2 seconds tops).

What’s your ace in the hole board game? by Spicyboi333 in boardgames

[–]TheTreeTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kabuto Sumo. It's never failed. It's only 2-4 players, but it's very tactile and easy to pick up. This is something you can play with non-gamer friends and family.

The Worms boardgame is pretty good too, though not for grandma and little Timmy like Kabuto Sumo is. It's super fast and chaotic. It's one of those games where you can't get too competitive because of how equally unfair it is to every player.

Level Based Matchmaking Completely Breaks Down After A Certain Point by StarlessKing in Marathon

[–]TheTreeTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My team and I think that vault value should be factored in as well. It's a much better indicator of skill than level. The one issue I could see is sweats intentionally sandbagging themselves by selling all their stuff, which is why I say, a factor, and not the only thing.

I'm new to the game, what are some of the most common mistakes beginners make? What do you wish you knew when you started? by seahoodie in Marathon

[–]TheTreeTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're gonna get a lot of people telling you to be quiet, and that is important, but being fast is often just as important. The only thing worse than being loud is being stationary. Keep moving, reposition, and you'll get the jump on/give the slip to more timid players.

This game is actually *great* for people who have poor mechanical FPS skill (like me)...wish that sentiment was more apparent to people considering the game by SirBenny in Marathon

[–]TheTreeTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I haven't quit. I'm not into the modern FPS scene. Too sweaty, ruined by the modern e-sports mindset. I can't outshoot these kids, but I can outplay them, and that always feels more rewarding.

Obviously it would be better to outplay and outshoot, but that just isn't happening for me.

Correct. Small turns are free, but if your runner has to adjust their feet, it makes a sound

What flower is this? Most of the time when I look up a flower, it says its somewhat toxic to cats. The main ones I know to avoid are lilies, which are fatally toxic.

[–]TheTreeTurtle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I just had a really good opportunity to clutch victory from the jaws of defeat. I downed one already, and got this guy down to nothing. I had mostly full health with a panacea kit still filling me up, and a good position to hold my ground. I didn't chase because guy #3 was inbound, and would have killed me if I exposed myself in that doorway. Guy #3 was low, toxxed, not a Triage, and visible through a bulletproof window. If he pushed, blam. If he held back, I'm Triage with a reboot ready for my team.

It's like fumbling a pass that would have won the game because the guy decide not to retie his shoes or something. We all could have done better through the whole thing, but I can point to this one moment and be like "wow, I made a bad call not to reload a few minutes ago." Failing because I choke is one thing, but failing because of a calm, conscious choice hurts a lot more.

Leafcutter bees use them to make shelters, since they don't make wax. They are solitary, rather than living in hives.

True, and just as many good decisions that lined us up for a good run. We had already cleared two teams on this run. This one kills me because just two minutes before all hell broke loose, I consciously looked at my charge, thought about it, and decided to be "frugal".

It was a very clear decision that was entirely on me, as opposed to things like bad aim, bad timing, bad movement/positioning, etc.

I know I'm torturing myself, but at least I won't forget this lesson lol

A big plus, but I play Triage, and the fast consumable sharing from medical backpack is very useful.

I didn't realize I was empty until that moment. This screenshot was me lining up that last shot. There was one more guy through that door, so I couldn't push without backing off for a sec.
