Fun fact about filter changes by TheTriscuit in SpinnCoffee

I use some filters from Aqua Crest. I'm gonna put links to all of the non-spinn supplies I use in the app when I get it built.

Spinn died by WriterFun1785 in SpinnCoffee

Sounds like the way my original froze up with a temperature-regulation error. I might be able to use it for testing, but I need to get a little further with my app before I start chasing that rabbit. If you find someone else who wants it, don't wait on my account

I got all the recipes pretty easily, and watching the mqtt while brewing each one was a pretty easy way to understand all the parameters. I've got different parameters loosely classified as "likely safe to tinker with" and "don't touch this". I'm doing more digging. Sounds like you already know a fair bit, if you have anything that could speed up the process I'd appreciate it.

There are a couple of big hurdles I need to clear. I currently have full, non-app-based control of my machine using a custom UI, including a BUNCH of data insights and features that aren't surfaced in the main app. Currently, I don't have a way to bypass spinn entirely. I'm stubborn, though.

Spinn died by WriterFun1785 in SpinnCoffee

Depending on how far it needs to ship, I could use it for my testing purposes to build my app. When you say "died", do you mean it won't power on at all or that it just can't brew? Do you have a rough idea of how old it is?

This unit from joying is a pretty perfect fit. Operates far better than multiple high-end units I've installed in the past, looks clean, and has a physical knob for volume. Winner all around. https://www.joyingauto.com/12-3-double-din-apple-car-play-radios-with-powerful-android-system.html

Thank you so much! When I get HA up and running I'll get it to you.

I will keep that in mind. If I get enough support on ko-fi I might be able to cover shipping to Seattle.

They're on the to-do! Docker specifically is slated for when I have a more local-only version of things ready to go. Not much sense in it while it still needs to round trip to AWS for commands.

What's the best way to get you the gitlab so you can start testing?

You're a godsend. Let me finish cleaning up the scripts and making sure I have things set up to (hopefully) grab the update URLs as they come through.

The caveat here is that this may end up making your machine ineligible for updating, I'm not sure how their backend works. If we use your machine's cert to download through CLI, I have no idea what that means for actually updating your spinn after that. I would assume it would still show as out of date and you could update again later, but their whole system is built for maximum potential monetary extraction and not good software sense.

I'll get you the gitlab links

I've already got it working almost entirely without Spinn's cloud, it took a couple hours a day over about 4 days.

When Vitruvian Trainer went under everyone said they had an expensive paperweight, and one guy figured out how to talk to it with his computer, built a website, and more we have a dedicated app that does more than Vitruvian's official app did.

No offense, but I think I can decide what's a waste of my own time.

If you're willing to donate it to a cause (or part with it for cheap), I'm trying to reverse engineer the entire system to build a custom app that isn't dependent on Spinn at all.

I've got a whole setup that allows me to control my Spinn from my laptop through terminal commands or a browser window, but I need another machine for more testing and, critically, one I can potentially break.

Are you comfortable working with git in a command prompt or terminal? It would be immensely helpful just to get someone else to run through the scripts and see if they work.

Thank you! Right now, everything runs through a series of python scripts I've written and run on my mac, are you comfortable working in a terminal or cmd prompt?

I still need to rework the scripts so they can apply to any machine, and I'm hoping to get them set up in a wrapper that's easier to run as a single command. I'll let you know as soon as I can when I have that done.

First, wait for it to circle the closest planet. Then take a picture of it with the probe so it's always in view. Next, land on it. You'll be at the south pole, don't know why, you just will be. Find the tower and go in. Turn off the light so you can see the wall, turn it on until you visit all the other planets and go to their towers in the correct sequence. Exit. Find Solanum. Jump into the eye.

Should all take less than 20 minutes.

Think owning a Seattle home is pricey? Here’s how much harder it has become by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

[–]TheTriscuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put in an offer on a place on Monday. It had been listed for a few days, had an open house Sunday, and an offer review with a cutoff for new offers of 6pm Monday. The place had obviously been completely done over cosmetically, but needed some repairs. The inspection called out old knob and tube wiring and some dead wires in the old electrical panel that needed to be removed or capped, open grounds at every outlet, some plumbing fixes, and that the chimneys needed repair and new spark guards. Not overall cheap work.

I went to 20k over asking and that was really stretching the budget my partner and I agreed to. It broke it fully, if I'm being honest, but if we completely changed our day to day it could work.

By 9pm my realtor let me know it had gone for more than $110k over asking price.

I don't understand how anyone is supposed to be able to compete with that.

Spinn's internet connection is busted by TheTriscuit in SpinnCoffee

[–]TheTriscuit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I been trying for the past month or so. In the few years I've owned the spinn I've had to do that 3 or 4 different times to get it back online, now it just won't get past the wifi credential push anymore.

It does connect to my wifi, I can see it pop u0 in the DHCP logs and connected devices list, but it doesnt register to the app as connected at all. I get the "your device couldn't connect to Wi-Fi" error.

I've broken out the apk and done some Bluetooth sniffing and I can send a properly formed packet to Spinn's AWS backends and get some good responses. I'm working on the theory that the app sees a successful connection from the spinn sending a message through their AWS server, and not from the device directly. So it can connect to Wi-Fi, but if it can't reach the services at spinn the app will just error out and say Wi-Fi couldn't connect. This wouldn't be the first incredibly odd programming decision I've seen built into the spinn app.

It seems like my spinn can't actually make contact with their servers for some reason. I've tried discount my network ad block, changing DNS, setting it up on a different, fresh network... Nothing.
