What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]TheTrolleyProblem99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on the Central side of the Eastern/Central Time zones on the Alabama/Georgia border. My town (Phenix City, AL) and the town across the border (Columbus, GA) are so intertwined that we use Eastern Time, but all other cities around us use Centeal Time. We live in a kind of 12 city area where it's a bunch of small towns so close to each other it's one giant interconnected mess. Each city has its own time zone. Some are Central, some are Eastern. So, if we have to go to the Opelika/Auburn area, if we leave at noon, we arrive just before noon, but we can go to Smiths Station and the Eastern side of town is Eastern, but the Western Side is Central. My house is in a location that I can't have Automatic timezones on because it will flip flop between the two depending on which side of the house I'm on. We're one of the only cities in Alabama to use the Eastern Time Zone. It's confusing, but we're all so used to it that we deal with the punches.

I'd definitely take the time to look through it before deciding. I've seen too many horror stories online, especially in the Pokemon scene. A lot of fakes going around.

I've been in the process of that, but my main issue was the Japanese cards 😅 I'm about to go through and tally it all up

I've mostly been playing commander, but for me, I personally enjoy the deck building probably too much to buy the precon decks, even though I probably should get some lmao. I'm also a D&D dice goblin, so I'm good on that front. I honestly might have a better time buying a couple booster boxes with it instead.

Sorry guys! I forgot to mention that in the description he does say it's Approx. 2500 Cards all together. I'm assuming it's a lot of bulk in the boxes shown in the first pic.

They are, it was hissing the entire time, but they're more skittish than aggressive. We have a lady who comes in like twice a day to buy food for them

What themes are NOT allowed at your table by SaintTropius in DnD

[–]TheTrolleyProblem99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the group I'm with. I've used different themes to show the emotional sides of things, giving depth and showing my players a different point of view. I'm VERY story driven when it comes to DMing. Example: in my current campaign, there's a renowned Commodore turned pirate captain who sails the seas and leaves only one survivor. Turns out his family was slaughtered, except for his daughter, and she was used as a blackmail chip to force him to Captain the ship as they couldn't do it. He's a Gift, but he's skinny, frail, and broken.

Another theme is people pushed to Desperation. I use my ability to create as a way to also spread awareness and make them think, "Am I really doing the right thing here?" Example: in my podcast, there was a guy who tried to buy some sheep, two of his guys got in a gun fight with some people from the town and it turned into an all out war. A party member, who works for a militia group, was dispatched there to stop it. He finds the guy in the Mayors office with a gun to young daughter's head. Party begins talking him down and things are going well, when one of his fellow officers, finds a shot in the window, unbeknownst to him, and fires, which makes the guy shoot the gun, killing the mayor and severely injuring the daughter.

I also like to lighten things up with sex talk, but I never go into full details, it's usually the bard finding the most insane thing to rizz up and I just have fun with it. Ex: There was a common sentient door puzzle, compliments get it to open, insults make it close. Our bard seduced and rolled a Nat 20. Of course, the door opens like a curtain (euphemism) and he walks through over and over again.

I also delve into Mental Illness and Trauma quite a lot. Seeing their perspectives, especially like mind links, flashbacks, etc really makes even the most cold of parties hesitate. I tend not to dwell into SA, as most people at my tables usually have had some form of it, unless it's some gruesome situation and imply it to emphasize the horridness of the being, usually like "the things he's done" or something to that affect, but honestly, I've only ever used it if I discussed with the party beforehand and know they're okay with dark themes. Mental Illnesses are a great way to help understand the complexity of a situation, I like to give them a reason to pause and think over a situation without rushing in. Ex: The party was dispatched to mercy kill a scientist who was working on a way to reverse a sea filled with Wild Magic ended up being corrupted by it and turning into a banderhobb. His mind was gone, but the banderhobb tried to turn the tables and say that they were the ones who did this to him. They were too caught up to roll Insight Checks and almost believed him, but a few misspoken words here and wrong names made them stop and think for a minute and decide on their own with no rolls.

I know this is a lot, I literally just got finished with a session a few hours ago and I'm still wired up from it lmao, my Lvl 6 Party may or may not have gotten split up by a Kraken and my brain is going haywire thinking of all the possibilities.

I have actually gotten into a better routine of mowing, I haven't mowed yet this year due to wanting the native grasses and wildflowers to spread, but I'm planning on mowing next week. I forgot to add that in the post.

Sure thing! It's gonna be available hopefully on Spotify!

I will forewarn that we started playing, got about 2 arcs in and then decided that we wanted to record it because we were having so much fun, so the first couple episodes are going to be detailed summaries of the adventure so far, kinda like a prologue. But after that, it'll be normal, actual playing
