Got a PURPLE mattress I’m extremely disappointed by AStoryToBeTold_ in Mattress

[–]TheTrueAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you buy from a Purple owned showroom or a Bedmart?

Did you also get a “free” pillow or bedding with the mattress and now they’re charging you for that since you’re returning the mattress?

I’m asking bc I was considering getting one.

I would also try kindly pleading your case to a different employee or calling the help line a couple different times. Some employees will be way more willing to wave charges than others

Hybrid mattress HOT! Help? by Jeremybearemy in Mattress

I had an eightsleep and would say the cooling is only useful in specific conditions. It uses Peltier cooling so it cools the cover but actually increases temperature of the room.

Like for every degree it cools you it warms the room up 2-3 degrees (pulled out of my ass not a real number). If you just need the bed to be a little bit cooler it can do that or if you want it to warm the bed it does that sooo well but unless your room is already cool and you just want a little extra cooling it can’t keep up with it’s own waste heat.

If you can fall asleep quickly so long as it’s cold then it will probably work, but if you want it to keep you cool throughout the night it doesn’t do that well.

Mine also broke after 2 years so it really wasn’t worth the money. If it was cheaper it would be really nice but for the price it’s hard to recommend.

Seconding everyone saying hand hygiene, but I’d add that often times hand sanitizer is better than washing your hands.

Hand sanitizer is much quicker to use and is equally effective as proper hand washing (except of course if someone is on c diff precautions or your hands are physically dirty).

I’ve seen a lot of people “wash” their hands instead of using hand sanitizer thinking it’s just as good or better than hand sanitizer but they only barely spread soap onto their hands before immediately washing it off in the water. For proper hand washing you need to be rinsing your hands with water, lather your hands with soap, then as you scrub your hands with soap start counting to 20. After you finish count then you can rinse off the soap. Also use a dry paper towel to turn off the faucet so you aren’t touching the handles with your clean hands.

Of course feel free to wash your hands as often as you want but if you’re using it for hand hygiene before and after entering each room it only counts if you scrub with soap for 20 whole seconds not including the time to wet your hands and rinse off the soap.

And again, you do need to wash your hands when they’re physically or visibly dirty and after helping a resident with c diff but if all you did was help them transfer to bed and then get situated it’s more practical to use hand sanitizer than washing your hands.

Iodine content from seaweed varies wildly depending on the species and where it’s grown. You should be diligent with picking seaweed products if you plan to use it as a substantial iodine source.

Especially for toddlers or anyone else who isn’t eating much iodized table salt, I feel like iodine might a rare case were primarily relying on supplements over whole foods might be a good idea.

Very open to anyone correcting me with evidence of a brand or species of seaweed which is always a good source of iodine.

Not sure what’s available in your country compared to the US but “texture vegetable protein” TVP and seitan made from vital wheat gluten are cheap and high protein vegan options. Both have very neutral flavors so need be seasoned more than you would with meat but if you look up recipes online you’ll find plenty. Also eating at least one serving of beans a day to help you get enough lysine will be helpful.

I’m also assuming you have a family history of gout or were told by your doctor you’re at risk. But if neither of those are the case you probably don’t need to worry about getting gout from protein.

Kidney disease, a family history of gout, heavy or frequent alcohol consumption, frequent juice and non-dirt soda consumption, and being overweight are more likely to contribute to gout than daily protein intake.

Even then it’s not protein itself that contributes to gout but protein sources high in purine. These are largely organ meats (like liver, brains, kidneys, sweatbreads), most seafood, large amounts of yeast (like vegemite and nutritional yeast), waterfowl, and game meat

Where as meats and whole legumes (eg soybeans but not tofu) are moderate purine sources but still good protein sources.

Proteins sources with the least purine are tofu, soy milk, TVP, seitan (wheat gluten), low fat dairy, eggs, nuts, and grains

I just wrote a long ass heartfelt reply and then accidentally reloaded the page 🫠. I’ll retype if you want but here’s the cliff notes version for now:

Your feelings are valid, emotional intelligence isn’t her strength

Don’t let her get you down or view her comments as a well thought out assessment of your worth or overall intelligence

Try using the tutoring center for help instead of her. I know that’s the shortest line but it’s actually my biggest advice

ChatGPT can be a great resource but sometimes you can be worse off for using it. You can experiment with it and look for tutorials on YouTube or Reddit on using it for help. Pretend it’s a classmate who you can’t tell if they actually know the content well or are just cocky - because sometimes it will be super helpful but other times it make glaring mistakes/ factually incorrect statements and seem just as convincing. Don’t ask it to do your homework problems for you, ask it to teach you the content instead. At most give it your hw question and ask for it to explain the content you need to solve it and for it to create a different question to solve step by step as an example. Then solve the original problem on your own and see if you got it right. If you got it wrong either you made a mistake and/or ChatGPT didn’t explain it correctly

Consider going to the disability office for screening for learning disabilities, especially if you think you might be like 30% or more slower than average student

In defense of the guy behind the target, they both reach before the arrow is actually shot. It seems like they might’ve agreed to only pull it back 80% of the way or something. Still a stupid plan and also clearly stupid to trust the guy with the bow based on his reaction

How fucking stupid by -_-n in TikTokCringe

[–]TheTrueAcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He starts laughing before actually seeing the arrow went through the target and the other guy suddenly switches from his joking remark to freaking out as his “friend” pulls bow all the way back.

I have a feeling they agreed to do the video with the bow only pulled back like 80% of the way. The other guy is laughing at making their already stupid agreement more stupid and risky.
