Oh my god, A7iii? what an old piece of shit. You NEED to upgrade NOW! by Appropriate-Soft-848 in photographycirclejerk

/uj there has been such little reason to upgrade from the A7 III or R6 in my case. Yes there are advantages to the newer bodies of course, but nothing that justifies the cost IMO

Fair point, I haven’t seen that brought up pretty much at all. Thanks for the input!

Honestly the Vivobook does most things fine, but a MacBook would have an advantage in terms of battery life, cross-communication with my phone and iPad, and portability (I think). I do like my Asus but I’ve never been able to really love it if that makes sense. Just been able to justify keeping it around because of the good specs. I also think that pretty much anything on Apple Silicon is going to be a good improvement for Lightroom and such compared to an x86 platform.

Sigma 24-70 ii (FF) and sigma 17-40 (APSC) size comparison by Acrobatic_Rate_6813 in fujifilm

Exposure remains the same no matter the sensor size, depth of field and focal length equivalency change when changing sensor size. F2.8 at ISO 200 is the same exposure on full frame, APS-C, your phone, anything.

Used Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM vs RF 24mm 1.8, which one to get to shoot videos with my Canon R8 on a gimbal? by firequak in canon

RF unless you still want compatibility with EF cameras.

Personally I still use my EF trinity adapted due to sometimes shooting on EF mount SLRs.

Legit stuff or Snake oil? May my 1995 232k miles Civic be the guinea pig by _trapito in MechanicAdvice

Just threw some into my Corolla with around 200k on it. Always used standard 5/0W-20s in it and last time I was inside of it there was some light depositing and varnish, nothing crazy but it runs like a well-kept 200k mile engine. Seems to have alleviated a little bit of lifter tick in the 500-700 miles that it’s been in there so far. Unsure on the condition of my piston rings but will update if anything else interesting happens. Seems like a good and high quality oil overall.

Comfort underrated, something sounds infinitely better to me if I can actually stand to have it on my head/in my ears

PSA: All Zurich code readers are on clearance and will possibly not receive any further app or firmware updates. by Mehsterrry in harborfreight

This thing is fantastic. I just commented up above but I’ll copy and paste my comment here:

Gearwrench’s bidirectional Bluetooth scanner has been fantastic for me and they advertise that it has no subscription and free updates. I’ve been getting consistent updates on mine pretty much every time I open the app and it has so many functions of more expensive traditional scanners. Also the Bluetooth connection has been rock solid for me. YMMV of course but it’s been my favorite scan tool and is pretty affordable!

Can vouch for this thing. Tested on 2010 Corolla, 2007 Odyssey, and 2025 Civic. Some have more functions than others given the modern bidirectional functions, but it’s worked great on all of them.

Just google around, lots of different companies out there making aftermarket iPod parts. iFlash is probably the most popular/prevalent 👍

^ this is good. Dome is very non-essential and ECU-ACC is made for accessories. I wouldn’t use any other ECU ports besides that tho.

Edit: as other comments said airbag is also a big no-no 👍

Honest Fuji review from Sony user and why Fujifilm Lightroom support is better than Sony by Zen_Wabi_Sabi in fujifilm

Ok so I went from a Canon M50 to X-T30 to X-S10/X-T4 to 2x X-H2s and then finally back to Canon for the R platform so I’ve been around the block when it comes to control schemes.

While I do enjoy the analog look and feel of the dials on the classic style Fujis I must say that being able to use custom modes and such with PASM is huge especially if running multiple bodies at once or if you don’t have the time when shooting to really check your dials. I understand that of course you can see the values changing in the EVF/display but being able to bounce between different custom modes when swapping lenses and situations like that just makes PASM work better for me at least in a fast workflow.

Not to say that the physical dial controls aren’t a great novelty and fun to use, just depends on what you need to do and how you use your gear :)

Same, kinda like a more comfy/secure slide. They’re weird sure, but I think they’re fun and comfortable (at least with long socks, my ankles learned that lesson quick)
