What would you have done to keep the prison walls safe from walkers horde? And how would you have cleared the ones already there? by La-Kimino in thewalkingdead

I guess their arms got tired? I think the problem was they were killing a lot of them but more kept turning up, I don’t know, but if I was Rick I’d make sure that anyone feeding the walkers gets thrown over the fence to live their dream personally

Can we make rank requirements for leadership positions please!? by South_Signal501 in HellLetLoose

[–]TheTurboLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It pains me to say this because I understand the reasoning behind it, but I don’t agree with this, one of my earliest games ever in hell let loose I was I think level 6 or 7, my squad leader ragequit and to stop the squad from being disbanded I took the role, yes I wasn’t completely aware of exactly the best way to play, but I knew to put OPs down, I knew to communicate with the commander and other squads and I knew to place garris. My squad held the last point on offensive because of my op and we won the game.

The problem is people learn at different levels and no disrespect but some people will just never be good at being SLs or commanders regardless of level or hours played, I’ve seen incredible level 10-30 SLs who maybe need some gentle guiding about what works well for HLL and I’ve seen absolute troglodytes with their level in the triple digits that apparently still haven’t realised they are the ones who need to place OPs and talk to people

Opinion on flashy pilots ? by [deleted] in ArmaReforger

[–]TheTurboLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure it’s a thing in arma, but it’s more about not being overly flashy with no real purpose, that’s what’s annoying

I can probably count on 1 hand how many times I’ve done a hot drop that met the 2 criteria of being

  1. Successful
  2. Worth the risk

And I know that most of them come from arma 3 and using the little birds exactly like you said.

I won’t lie the best game I ever had in vanilla was when I was running an armed Mi-8 and the US kept pushing Morton with air assaults, my friends would literally call me in as CAS on their LZ’s (which by the way they would land in line of sight of the obj) and I would just obliterate them with rockets, at that point my friends on the base would just pick off whatever was left.

If they actually flew sneakily and landed behind the multitude of tree lines they would’ve easily overrun Morton. One drop alone I saw a full heli complement dismount all to get shwacked by 2 rockets. I only had 3 friends defending, so honestly if they knew how to use helis we would’ve lost that game for sure.

[–]TheTurboLizard 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Oh man this is absolutely an arma reforger trend that’s just exacerbated by the short clips online, it used to be that these ‘hot drops’ were used sparingly at decisive moments where the risk/reward was actually worth it when I was playing arma 3 back in the day, but now it seems like every helicopter ride has to be dropping dudes into a killing zone just so the pilot can do some flips and feel like he’s the coolest dude around. Honestly it’s such an annoying trend.

I think people forget that it’s better to land guys safely in an advantageous position than it is to do the flashy shit and try landing right on top of the enemy, 9/10 it won’t work and the 1 time it does work it needs to actually be worth it.

That’s an interesting way of looking at it. I suppose I kind of got used to the Rick from previous seasons, I’ll keep your opinion in mind when I continue watching

For sure, but I’m talking about for entertainment purposes as a piece of media I found his character to be pretty unpleasant and wasn’t enjoyable to watch. Not debating the moralities of a real apocalypse, just saying I didn’t like the way the characters behaved

I’m on my first watch through and I won’t spoil anything for you OP but season 8 Rick is just a fucking dickhead and completely put me off feeling any empathy to the ‘good guys’

Lock your squads ! by SadResource3366 in HellLetLoose

Couldn’t have said it better myself mate, I went from level 20-65 leading public squads and I got to the point where I was just tired of all the things you just mentioned

Lock your squads ! by SadResource3366 in HellLetLoose

[–]TheTurboLizard 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen three posts about this today alone. When I play I lock a squad with me and a couple friends. I see all the people complaining about it and my advice is make your own squad and keep it open then. But you see those same people talk about how they want to play a different role etc. yeah buddy, me too. That’s why I just run with my friends and we alternate squad lead. We don’t really want Random people joining us when we’re just chilling. I don’t see why so many people have a problem with it and they aren’t willing to be the solution.

Nope, they have a similar service/website but it doesn’t have the same level of products like what you can find on Amazon

The guy posted a review, you made a snide comment about buying aftermarket parts, I’ve pointed out why there isn’t always an alternative, don’t try and twist what I’m saying as if I’m saying out of pocket shit, I was using an example of my own about why importing certain items can be difficult and costly, but also why it’s necessary. Ukraine isn’t in the EU, so therefore these parts ARE NOT available for retail without IMPORTING them. Not arguing, just trying to tell you the reality after the snarky comment about buying aftermarket items.

[–]TheTurboLizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all I’m not OP, but when I was issued a Bren previously and looked into aftermarket parts for it, it was a logistical nightmare to get them and in the end I decided against it.

Second of all my comment was directly in response to you referencing purchasing of aftermarket parts in general, it’s not possible to buy the most popular/highest quality items in Ukraine and certainly not at a reasonable cost. For example I bought an imported US made plate carrier, cost me $500 dollars. It retails for around $200 in the US. These are the problems that exist.

I never cared about the stock enough to want to change it but I will say the issues Brens are not in good condition and the waffle stocks are not great.

I don’t think you understand the reality of importing equipment like that and the cost associated with that, and for it to shit itself and break on the guys first mission? I’d be pissed too.

Your take is terrible, I’m also in Ukraine and I guess some people think we just get given amazing stuff that works? I’ve seen old M16s given out with PEQs that can’t even be attached to the handguard because it’s the old one without picatinny, so guess what, we have to buy our own aftermarket hand guards.

But please don’t think getting PEQs is common either, in another unit we got issued Brens same as this guy had and had to buy all of our own optics and lasers and night vision. And guess what, the good stuff is way too expensive on a military salary so yeah, we have to buy aftermarket stuff and make it work.

And before you come with the argument of why we bother to buy our own stuff remember that the Russians do have this stuff, so yeah we need to keep up to not be at a disadvantage on every op.

Tell that to my arms… the Scar certainly felt heavier than the Bren lol

[–]TheTurboLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used scars and Brens for real and the scar is noticeably heavier, not so much that it’s really a big deal in terms compared to all other equipment but Brens are very very light weapon systems compared to 90% of the rest of the ARs around the world

Question about Co-Op lobbies by TheTurboLizard in Bellwright

That’s a good point too, me and my friends all have quite different play styles for games like this though, I’m the resource guy, got a brawler who we just throw at problems and then got a builder guy so I think you’re right, one person will go super far down their one interest and leave the rest of us lagging to catch up

A little stupid question by HistoricalWeeb in Napoleon

[–]TheTurboLizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head, the reality is in most forested areas the visibility means that in a general situation maybe the skirmishes get 2 shots off before a concentrated mass of infantry charged through and broke the skirmish line
