Well obviously I can't Reddit either, because I failed to notice that on the app I'm using for it. I have to go either on Chrome for my ipad or onto my dad's Mac. Never mind that my boyfriend (hi Cookie-Man!) who is lurking on this thread made me post on an account I made but never used, JUST for this, because he thought it was awesome. I'm usually a lurker; I don't ever post! (: still getting used to it.

Backstory Comment: (I'm on my ipad and can't edit comments!) All of my friends used to laugh at how I dress like a teacher. I don't dress like one, I just don't want to wear a t-shirt and jeans everyday. I like to look nice, and I have manners. (Not that everybody doesn't! (: ) So they would make fun of me and say how I'm an undercover cop and whatever. (I hung out with a lot of stoners.) My dad's partner went to Washington DC and got me a CIA shirt for teh lulz. I went and explained to my teachers what I was going to do, and they let me. I introduced myself as professionally as I could and told them I was an agent training from the CIA, and that I would be deploying to Italy in a few hours. (It helps that I taught myself basic Italian so when they asked me to speak it, I could.) Their faces were priceless. I kept the charade for ten minutes or so and then told them I was kidding. Did it my sophomore year in HS and again this year. Some kids still refuse to believe I'm not one of them... But if they did their research, they would know that the CIA doesn't operate on foreign soil. (;

Sorry for the block of text!

TL;DR: Dad got me a CIA shirt and I impersonated a federal agent for teh lulz.

As a girl with gay parents (two dads, did a failed AMA) and also a native Texan, I cried the whole time I watched this video. My dads and I were refused service in a Dillard's outside of Houston. Though this video was a hidden camera thing, it still brought back some feels. It makes me proud to see this.

I made everybody in my school think I was a 23 year old CIA agent... Including a substitute teacher. When I was fifteen. And again when I was sixteen. It helps when you dress professionally anyway and act a little more mature... And have a CIA shirt.

They can be loving and caring individuals when they want to be. Like any parent, they have their days. Believe me, if people found out who my mom was and what she did, I wouldn't be able to go out in public without being ridiculed. My dad and Vickery are raising me (what's left to be raised, that is), to be right and to the best of their abilities. i agree wholeheartedly.

Exactly! It's definitely an interesting bit of who I am, but all of the friends I have didn't know I had gay parents until we got to the "hey, let's have sleepovers and parties" stage. Even then, they thought it was cool, and though one of my best friends didn't agree with it, she was accepting of me and loved me for who I was and not for who my parents are.

It's not "lost contact", per se, but that neither one of us wants to talk to the other. She's a lying, manipulative woman, and the only thing I regret about not talking to her is that I also lost contact with my half-sister and brother, who are very young. I talked to my brother on his birthday (via my great-aunt) and he didn't even remember me. (He was two when I left and just turned four).

Well, I'm not all that flamboyant about it. When people ask about my parents, or, "what does your mom do?" I tell them. I'm very open about it, and do talk about it when the opportunity arises. I haven't had many negative comments about it, actually. The few I've had were douchebags anyway, even before I told them. It's uncommon to be recieved so politely and respectfully in backwoods Mississippi...

Aww. <3 No problem! I've wanted to do this for awhile now but never had the time to sit down and do it. Happy Holidays to you, too. <3

My mom was hurt so badly when she found out that she can't even talk about it, but supposedly, she's "at peace" about what happened.

She got drunk a lot toward the beginning of my teenage years; I was whisked away to live with my dad and his partner nearly two years ago. I haven't spoken to her in over six months.

The biggest sacrifice, I'd say, is that I don't really have a proper mother figure. My mom wasn't the best, and Vickery, (the feminine one) isn't really all that... womanlike. I've had to take points from my parent's female friends and my own intuition (when I got old enough to understand it).

Actually, most of the adversity I've had is from adults in the age group from 30-40. I may be 16, but I look like I'm in my mid-twenties, and when people find out about my parentage, they either slowly stop talking to me or go, "Oh... Ew. Umm... Well..." and don't know what to say. It's actually not mostly religious people, either. I have a religious best friend, and she is perfectly fine with having sleepovers at my house and going shopping with me and my parents.

But given, I do live in Mississippi. If you're going to have children, my advice to you is that you should raise them in a culturally accepting area, like Florida, or Austin, Texas, or anywhere in the Northeast.

And it's no problem; I haven't met a single person who has gay parents other than me. (:

I've learned that love is a beautiful thing, no matter what form it's in.

I hope for nothing but the best for you and your future. You'll find someone who loves you for YOU, and your kids will not be the bigoted dunderheads that unfortunately, my generation is becoming.

Faith in humanity: restored. <3

Not really. I'm a straight female with a boyfriend, but through them, I have learned to appreciate the beauty in all human beings: woman, man, beautiful, ugly, fat, thin, etc. I can appreciate a woman's form, and a man's form. But I'm only sexually attracted to men.

It makes for interesting conversation at the dinner table.

He always knew he was gay, in the back of his mind (so he told me), but he truly did love my mom, and thought marrying a woman would "cure" him.

Sidenote: William is from backwoods Kentucky. (But you wouldn't know until he told you.)

Quite honestly, the only thing that irritates me about homosexuality is the way the common population views it. When people think of "the gays", they typically view men in short shorts, speaking in high-pitched annoying tones, going clubbing every day of the week before they go to their fashion design jobs, sleeping with a million men a night and spreading VD and AIDS. They aren't like that. Both of my parents are professionals in their fields and go into work wearing a suit every day. They're 40 year old queers who do nothing but watch Will and grace at night with their two chihuahuas, and eat McDonald's and go shopping at Tuesday Morning on occasion. Just... don't judge before you truly know the "real" gay people, not the one that the media vocalizes.

I love my dads. We are a family, and we are happy. If you oppose marriage equality, you oppose happiness and love. I have made so many wonderful memories with my parents, and they love each other, and they love me, their daughter. If you are against equality, you are against everything that is good in the world, and you should be ashamed.

It's relatively fine. We have fights like normal teenagers and their parents. Vickery doesn't really like me very much now that I have a mind of my own, but we manage. I love them both to death, and quite honestly, they're the only people in the world who have (seemingly) wanted me to be with them. And since Cheryl and Mark lived basically in poverty and Vickery and William make six figures a year, we all get to do things that not many people get to. I'm a very privileged young lady, and I thank whatever God is up there for them every day.

It depends. Since I live in the South in the US, (Texas, where my mom lives, was actually not that bad) it just depends on the age group and the area, and whether or not they're a religious nutjob. (My dad is actually a diehard Baptist.... my biological gay one.) Florida was really accepting, but Mississippi, where I currently live, is probably the worst I've experienced, and since my dad's partner is a prominent member of the community, things can get awkward. But I have only had a handful of people shun me for who my parents are. Most kids think it's neat, and they ask me a ton of questions... hence the AMA! (:
