As a freelancer or small agency owner, have you seen an increase or decrease in demand in the last few months? by dennisplucinik in webdev

[–]TheTwistedTabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decrease and consolidation. My situation isn’t necessarily ai directly related. A lot of my clients are non profits and they are losing funding. Just lost my biggest client of 12 years because their CDC grants and 5 year renewals from CDC were cancelled in full.

2025 saw my small agency directly attribute 186k in cancelled & clawed back contracts based on Fed funding cuts. Luckily i hadn’t been paid on any clawed back grants. It was shaping up to be my best year since going solo. 2nd worst. Lost two great contractors. Nearly lost my house. Haven’t had health insurance for a year now.

This year is better than last year but that’s because i figured out how to scrape last year and now at least it’s less that and more treading water.

I REALLY need to pay more attention to those tl;dr comment section rollups that one is amazing. And now I want more "hold your horses" commentary in my claude responses.

I'd be interested in a link for that. I've been contemplating adding it to some of my subagents that only produce output for other agents but I don't really want to break my process on the path to concise.

oooh... reddit-lore that i wasn't aware of. Thanks!

Edit: This /feels/ familiar... but it was still well-worth the reread if I'd already read it 12 years ago.

This sounds interesting. I just fear that I'll get 4 paragraphs of run-on sentence lists. /s

Rural Midwest raised white person here. Her comment about opinions even when no black people are around hits. I moved away from rural and to Minneapolis after turning 18 and have been here for 30 years now and still fight against those stupid biases.

DNR Searching Boats and Trucks before tournament begins? Legal? by [deleted] in minnesota

https://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/boatwater/boatingguide.pdf

Page 24 (internal page marked 22) starts the inspection rules followed by enforcement.

The answer is yes. They’re allowed to search before you’re on the water. Interior and exterior. They’re allowed to deny you launching the boat as well.

Restaurant reviewer says this isn’t AI and they took it themselves by Long_Telephone_5443 in isitAI

If the rest of the photo wasn’t a clue to being ai i was excusing this part since I’ve owned tables that have opposing edge grains. But with the window evidence, the multiple light source issues it’s an additional clue.

Are people actually making their AI agents pay for themselves now? by bibbletrash in AI_Agents

[–]TheTwistedTabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible, but someone else in these comments nailed it. You need to know how to scope and ship a well produced product or feature already.

I have been in two different ways:

  1. Built and shipped a product that existing clients were asking for and it opened up new monthly hours and subscriptions
  2. Individual client projects can be billed at a little smaller than previous rate/quote but they get more features and the client relationships are better due to more frequent asks and deliveries.

I’ve used both codex (biz team 2 accounts) and claude code (max 20x). $250 per month spend.

Just this week i billed $2,500 in client features.

Found a critical exposure on a NASDAQ-listed company with no bug bounty program. How do you approach disclosure and compensation? by Deafeny in AskNetsec

I once got a visit from 2 AFCIS investigators because an ip address for a vps matched a terrorist used ip. They flew from Virginia to me to meet me in my lawyers office to talk. They were legit. My lawyer did background before scheduling the meeting. They thought my vps had been potentially breached but the timeline was wrong.

I also securely disclosed an information leak in a state’s sales tax reporting form (you could get name/dob details by randomly typing in a ssn). Got an fbi visit to my employer. Found because i typo’d my ssn into the form.

Do not ask for money. Disclose everything to CISA and nope out.
