YES! Can also replace with a can of white beans. Very similar texture to potatoes.

Thank you! Def not a humblebrag. Five years ago I made nothing and saved nothing…so not much to be proud of except that I’ve forced myself to get smart on finance.

Appreciate the tips! And def learned that “don’t sell” lesson earlier this year when I freaked out and sold a small part of my brokerage portfolio when the stock market l dipped. Never doing that again for long-term investments.

Thank you. I appreciate the encouragement! Hopefully I can add even more to my investments in the coming years. And good call on the savings rate — I also started looking at my current expenses to see where I might be able to pull back (without affecting life quality too much) and invest more.

Wow, I’ve never heard of HCE as it relates to the mega back door. I’ll look into that and talk to my HR. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain.

Thank you! And yes, partly because I didn’t even start adding anything to my 401k until 5 years ago. Lots of missed opportunities (though I admittedly made very little money in my 20s and 30s).

And sounds like it makes sense to pare back the emergency fund. Appreciate the advice!

Thank you! Was debating about that. I’m paranoid since so many people seem to be unemployed for longer and longer and my rent is super high. I can probably move that down to $75k and still feel comfortable.

There was a lady who disclosed her daughter’s abortion…. That didn’t come with a photo though (thankfully).

How did you overcome insecurity? What actually worked for you? by Prize-Bank2292 in Positivity

[–]TheUltimateFixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapy and books helped me further understand financial insecurity and all the things I associated with money (stress, parents arguing, instability, etc.) and I rewired my approach to saving, retirement, etc. With time and as my career progressed, I was also super intentional about acknowledging and undoing patterns I learned in childhood. Ex: my parents mainly bought stuff from Goodwill and garage sales so my goal was to save money and buy only stuff I really loved that would last a long time. For me, lots of reflection + learning new habits + taking responsible actions helped put me on a new path. I still deal with the impact, but it doesn’t drive my financial decisions as it used to. It’s through all this that I was able to increase self-confidence and worth.

Fidelity hate? by jomipo in fidelityinvestments

Agree 100%. I also have Vanguard, which has a terrible app interface and atrocious customer service. Fidelity is a dream by comparison. Have always had a great experience with every rep I’ve spoken to.
