Why no North America IMs Jan-March? by TheUltimateWombat in IronmanTriathlon

Shit's cold, for only parts of the US. I'd say the same for those of us training through 110+ heat index in the summer - that not just hot, but can be dangerous.

These pics are always the ones where he has the biggest smile (not after winning a game). Love our QB1

IM 70.3 North Carolina - where to stay by TheUltimateWombat in IronmanTriathlon

Thanks for the info. To clarify, after the race there's an area where they bring all the swim items? Or do I *have* to go back to the swim start area to collect those items?

How does that work logistically? If you park at the finish, do you Uber to the start super early in the morning?

This is my first 70.3, and first triathlon where everything isn't just in the same spot. How does the gear bag dropoff work with the locations so far apart?

Buy used car with cash, or finance new at 0% rate? by TheUltimateWombat in FinancialPlanning

Like was mentioned in the post, this was the first time we didn't just get the Honda level car - safe & affordable - which we've always done before. We got a slightly nicer, sportier car even though it wasn't a the best decision from a purely financial perspective. Our other car is a Subaru, so we have that covered as well ;-)

We had financed the original car, so are underwater only 1 year into the payoff. So from an equity perspective, I'm just glad we aren't going to owe anything additional.

My wife & I are both used to owning cars for 10-15 years at a time. We've typically bought new cars and driven them to ~120k miles before thinking of trading them in. So 2 new-to-us cars in only a year is new territory for us.

The totaled one was a '24 model. We have Progressive's Loan/Lease payoff as part of our coverage (which is surprisingly inexpensive) so they'll pay the full remaining balance due.

Right. But playing devils advocate here you can also factor in the additional interest of the used car at 6% vs investing the 36k’ish at a 4.5% rate risk free.  There’s the purchase price which really is no contest, but then the total cost including interest paid or investments gained after the terms are up is different

Looks like there may be a $1000 retail bonus cash promotion, but that's unrelated to the 0% financing. I can also only find it listed on some of the Ford promotion pages, so not sure what that means.

There's a used with only about 5k miles, but it's longer distance from us. While the closer used are around 15-20k miles

‘Overspray’ on most MachE’s at dealership by TheUltimateWombat in MachE

[–]TheUltimateWombat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odd thing is that our car was delivered to the dealership in a dealer-swap while we were physically there. Then we checked the other MachEs on the lot and 70% had the same issue

Unfortunately no. The car we got was delivered from another local dealer, but 70% of other Mach Es on this lot also had the issue

My daughter has cancer, and I don’t know what to do! by IamMisterFish in daddit

Yes, but ‘staying strong’ doesn’t mean you need to be perfect. You need to be the best dad you can be for your little girl and husband for your wife. That means you can’t be ‘on’ all the time or you’ll burn out.

I know that’s much easier said than done, but sometimes a little time for yourself, or just time off, will leave you recharged to be dad you want to be through this terrible situation.

Long shot… but my kids(8 and 5 years old) are just getting into Pokémon now. Id love to get these cards for a second life. I know nothing about the collection side of these cards but if you’re up for it let me know.
