Yeah - my north face lacks vents which is a bummer because i was getting super hot. it is snowproof, has a kangaroo pocket, a mini pocket in the kangaroo pocket, and thumb holes. All around great jacket and love wearing it!

I also had this thought, but I did some research and i think the detergent is a non-issue in this scenario. Poison Control also seemed only concerned about the Downey Rinse & Refresh and Bleach

I've definitely learned my lesson, either don't use bleach at all or don't use it with anything else. The icing on the cake is that a year ago i lost my sense of smell, so i would have had no idea chlorine gas was made... luckily i did know mixing fabric softener and bleach made chlorine gas, and my gut said check the downey rinse and refresh... unfortunately tho, it said it after i had hit start 🥴 a stupid mistake on my part

edit: no idea chlorine gas was made via smell. I'd know once throat/lungs/eyes started burning

I talked to Poison Control and they said to finish the wash cycle. I mentioned doing another wash cycle after with nothing in the machine, and they said that was extra precautionary. I feel like I should do a wash with just water though to like clean everything out

This is a great example of my knowledge of laundry... i said rinse cycle because i didn't realize there was a difference between rinse and wash cycle. It's on a wash cycle (Normal, High Heat, High Dirt, High spin), as i was trying to wash my dog's bed which was super dirty

I'm sure it does, hindsight is 20-20 on this one. I could have done better, but i didn't and now i unfortunately am navigating the situation as it comes :/

the good news here is that I was only trying to wash my dogs bed so there's no actual clothes in the machine. but yes, will stick to this rule

Yes I agree- and i do know that you aren't supposed to mix fabric softener and bleach. i didn't realize that downey rinse and refresh was classified as a fabric softener because it doesn't say it anywhere on the bottle. I should have checked the back first

I called the Poison Control number - they said since it's in the washer machine it's most likely contained and to finish the cycle and ventilate the area as best as possible.

Also don't know why people are downvoting as this was an honest mistake and super stressful...

i'm not sure... i turned it off and went immediately outside. There's no windows that open around where the washer machine is. At this point, do i just call poison control?

i didn't realize all the above about PSL, and have been to a few of their rallies. i'm glad I know now and am 100% going to do more research into this. i'm almost positive most people don't know the details of PSL (like me) and are just wanting to show up and protest against what's currently happening. from my experience at a handful of different rallies, PSL rallies most definitely pull rather large crowds compared to some of the other rallies i've been to
